Jazz Bands in the North West

Find jazz bands for your wedding or event in the North West

Whether you're planning a wedding or event in a city-centre hotel or a country house miles from anywhere, jazz bands in the North West cover the whole region. This page brings together acts that play everywhere from Windermere, Salford Quays, Chester, Formby, Morecambe and Preston, so you can compare them side by side.

Across Blackpool, Cheshire, Cumbria, Lancashire, Lancaster, Liverpool and Manchester, the jazz bands listed here play drinks receptions, dinners and evening parties. Use the area links lower down if you'd like a list narrowed to one part of the North West.

Popular venues across the region include Holker Hall, Victoria Baths, Styal Lodge, Love Lane Brewery, Forrest Hills and Browsholme Hall. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we can usually say which acts have played there before.

Not every jazz band does the same job. Within this category you'll find jazz trios, swing and big-band line-ups, New Orleans groups and jazz singers, and knowing the feel you want for your wedding or event makes the choice much easier.

We've been booking jazz bands since 1999, and every act on this page travels across the North West. PA, lighting and travel are built into the quote, and you can check your date and price straight away with the instant quote button.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: £500 to £2,500, depending on line-up, date and how long the act plays
  • Always included: PA, lighting and travel, in every quote
  • Acts travel to venues right across the North West
  • Summer Saturdays and December dates book up first
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Some venues have sound limiters, early finishes or restrictions on where acts can set up. Check these early, as they can decide which line-up is the better fit for your wedding or event.

Expect to pay from around £500 up to £2,500 or more for a larger line-up. The act, the date and your set times make the biggest difference. Every quote includes PA, lighting and travel, so nothing is added later.

Each act's page carries real video, audio, a song list and reviews from previous clients. A couple of clips will tell you far more about how an act works a room than any description can.

Use the instant quote button on this page to see prices and availability for your date. Once you've chosen an act, we handle the contract, the deposit and the arrangements, and stay in touch through to the day. Every booking includes a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and an emergency contact line is available on the day if anything needs sorting quickly.

FAQs

Jazz works particularly well for wedding drinks receptions, corporate dinners, awards evenings, garden parties and milestone celebrations — anywhere you want live music that adds atmosphere without stopping conversation. Many acts can also play a livelier swing set later for dancing.

Yes. Most jazz acts are used to playing at a volume that lets guests talk comfortably, especially duos and trios. Tell the band the room and the purpose of each set, and they'll pitch the volume and repertoire to suit.

A trio is usually piano or guitar, double bass and vocals or a lead instrument — ideal for receptions and dinners. A quartet or quintet adds drums and often saxophone or trumpet for a fuller sound, and a larger band gives you the energy for a dance floor.

A duo or trio needs very little: a small corner of the room and, in some cases, a single power socket. Larger bands with drums and amplification need more floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking with your venue in the North West before booking.

From around £500 for a jazz duo to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The line-up, how long they play and the date make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Yes. Each act lists its repertoire, and most are happy to learn a special request with enough notice. If you have a style in mind — standards, gypsy jazz, bossa nova or swing — choose an act that specialises in it.

“We booked this band for a charity event. From first contact they were very positive and understanding of the type of evening we wanted, and they delivered exactly as promised. They play a lovely mix of music and are obviously very talented musicians. They offer a sophisticated repertoire of swing era music and we would highly recommend them for this type of occasion. They are also a very nice group of people.”

“Thanks again guys! We weren’t sure at first whether to hire a band but we were so pleased with our decision. You really helped create the atmosphere we were looking for. We’d definitely look to book you again in future”

“Dear Mike, I know I thanked you on the night but just wanted to do so again in the cold light of day. You and your band were fantastic, not just brilliant at the music but also lovely, helpful and a total pleasure to work with.
Thank you so much and please pass my thanks on to your team.
My Mother literally had the party of her life and you were a big part of that.... you were exceptional.”

“We book Fascinating Rhythm regularly at Brasserie Zedel to provide background jazz for our
diners. We also have them playing as the main event at our late night shows at The Crazy Coqs.
The band are a pleasure to work with and always go down a storm with our guests!”

“The Cannonballs are a highly professional, talented, and affordable option for those of us where the budget needs to be that little bit lower than that of a larger function band. On the night we used 3 of the musicians - but the sound, experience and impact created by these three gents was far from small. Charismatic, flexible and just brilliant musicians who made the event memorably good. The feedback from those who came along to the event was phenomenal. I cannot recommend them enough, and I’m looking forward to working with them again as soon as possible.”

“I'm just writing to you and the rest of the band on behalf of all my family and friends to say a massive thank you for the most amazing night we've had in a long while! People had travelled from quite a distance to come to the party and they were not let down - the atmosphere was electric and that's all thanks to you guys! It will not be forgotten in a hurry! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect night! Thanks again!”
