Irish Bands in Wiltshire

Book an Irish band in Wiltshire

If you want an event with warmth, energy and a big singalong, an Irish band is hard to beat. Acts across Wiltshire range from acoustic trad trios and solo Irish singers to full céilí bands and Celtic rock groups, and they play weddings, parties and festivals all year round.

Wiltshire has a wide choice of event venues, from Bowood House & Gardens and Bowerchalke Barn to Ashley Wood Farm. Our Irish acts travel right across the area, including Devizes, Chippenham and Swindon, so a proper Irish night is never far away.

Within this category you'll find traditional Irish groups, céilí and folk bands, Irish singers and duos, and Celtic rock bands. Many can play a gentle set early on and a full party set later, and their song lists show exactly what they cover.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every Irish act here travels to Wiltshire as standard, brings the equipment it needs, and the quote you receive includes travel. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • Traditional trad, céilí, Irish folk, ballads and Celtic rock
  • Sets for a drinks reception, a céilí evening or a full party night
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

A solo singer or duo suits a pub-style night or a small gathering. For a wedding or a big party, a four or five-piece band with fiddle and banjo fills the room properly. Tell us the venue and guest numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Expect to pay from around £600 for a solo singer or duo up to £2,500 or more for a full band. Line-up size matters most, then the date and extras such as a céilí caller or a longer set. Every quote includes travel, so nothing is added later.

Every act's page has video and audio of the musicians who would actually play, their repertoire and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to check the style and the atmosphere before you commit.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

The category covers traditional trad groups, céilí bands with a caller, Irish folk and ballad singers, and Celtic rock and Irish party bands that also play modern covers. Each act's page shows its style, line-up and song list.

Yes. Céilí bands come with a caller who explains each dance and walks guests through the steps, so nobody needs to know them in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room dancing together.

Most do. Full bands bring their own PA and lighting; acoustic duos and trios need very little. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most acts are happy to learn a special request with enough notice, whether that's a traditional air for the ceremony, a ballad for the first dance or a family favourite. Mention it when you enquire.

As early as you can. St Patrick's weekend is the busiest time of year for Irish acts, and the best bands are often booked months ahead. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.

“We had a great day, very much helped by great performances from both Declan and Star Club. We met with Declan before the wedding and he helped us to choose some great music for the ceremony, which gave it a particularly personal feel. Star Club were excellent for the entire evening; such a huge range of great songs that got everyone up dancing. Sweet guitar too :-) Thanks also to all the staff at Hire-a-Band for their help. We will be recommending you to anyone looking to book acts for any occasion. Many thanks.”

“Declan played so beautifully during our ceremony and drinks reception - it was exactly what we were looking for and he was so helpful before helping me to choose the music etc. Massive thank you!”

“Hickory Smoke were the perfect band for our big day. Karl was so ready to talk to when organising our wedding, he and the band put in a great performance in the evening. They could play our first dance live which was very special. The live covers were a real crowd pleaser and the ceilidh dances were well explained so everyone could enjoy. Thanks again!”

“The Flying Finns are great guys and very easy to get on with. They really made the party enjoyable and got a crowd going and played some awesome tunes. A+ band”

“Lanigans Shindig played my wedding recently and they were really impressive. Their music consisted of the Irish standards that every body knew and they had us all singing along to the wild rover and molly malone. A great band, book them, you won't be disappointed.”

“Natural Born Sinners were incredible, they brought exactly what we were looking for. Gaye from Hireaband was amazing and kept us in the loop throughout the whole process (and put up with us changing the band midway through planning). We would highly recommend Natural Born Sinners and Hireaband to any couples planning their wedding! Thanks so much!”
