Pop & Rock Bands in Durham

Hire a rock and pop covers band in Durham

Pop and rock is the broadest, most crowd-pleasing sound you can book. In Durham, bands playing rock classics, indie anthems and current pop are a favourite for office parties, weddings, festivals and celebrations, because there's something in the set for every age group.

Popular event venues in Durham include Beamish Hall Hotel, Hardwick Hall Hotel and Bradbury Glade, and our pop and rock bands play events across Barnard Castle, Darlington and Durham. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we'll check the band's set-up suits the space.

Pop and rock covers a lot of ground. Some bands lean towards classic rock and big guitar anthems, others towards indie and Britpop, and some are pure chart-pop party bands with mash-ups and medleys. A few minutes watching their videos will tell you which fits your crowd.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every pop and rock band here travels to Durham as standard, brings its own PA and lighting, and the quote you receive includes travel — use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £1,000 for a smaller line-up to £3,000 or more for a larger band, depending on date and set times
  • Line-ups from three and four-piece bands to six-piece bands with extra vocalists or keys
  • Two live sets plus a DJ playlist between and after sets as standard with most bands
  • Travel, PA and lighting are included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

A four-piece of vocals, guitar, bass and drums covers most pop and rock sets comfortably. Adding keys or a second singer gives you a fuller sound and more harmonies, which suits larger rooms and bigger crowds. For a smaller venue, a tight three-piece can still deliver the anthems at a manageable volume.

Most pop and rock bookings fall between about £1,000 and £3,000. The number of musicians is the biggest factor, followed by the date — Saturdays in summer and December are the busiest. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay.

Rather than a generic demo, each band's page shows the actual line-up you'd be booking, with videos, audio, a song list and client reviews. Between them you'll get a clear sense of the sound and the show well before the day.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

Expect rock classics from Queen, Bon Jovi and Fleetwood Mac, nineties Britpop and indie from Oasis and Blur, noughties anthems from The Killers and Kings of Leon, and current chart pop. Each band's page lists its full repertoire, and most will learn a first-dance or special request with enough notice.

Yes — it's one of the best choices for one. Most sets move through the decades, so older guests get the rock classics and younger guests get the recent hits, and there's always a run of songs everyone knows the words to.

Many can. If your venue has a sound limiter or a smaller room, look for a band that uses electronic drums or in-ear monitoring, and tell us about the limiter when you enquire so we can recommend acts that work within it.

Yes. Bands bring their own PA, lighting and usually a playlist for between sets. They'll need floor space for the line-up and power sockets nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £1,000 for a smaller line-up to £3,000 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians and the date make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two 60-minute or three 40-minute sets during the evening, with a playlist between sets and after the band finishes. Many also offer an extra acoustic set or a later finish if you need it.

“Lala Lounge was delighted with Rocktail Party's performance at our launch party. The energy levels were fantastic and their attention to detail, showmanship and hairography second to none. A thoroughly committed and passionate band, their obvious enjoyment of being on stage and their interaction with the guests really got the party started. Not only that but off stage they were professional, relaxed and resourceful under the pressure of a brand new venue.”

““We saw The Pocket Rockers on New Years Eve and they made my night! By far, the best party band I’ve seen. They just knew how to get the crowd going and had a brilliant mix of songs to hype us up. Seemed like they really enjoyed playing too, and were great at crowd interaction which just lifted the whole mood even more. Would definitely recommend them for any event.””

“Thanks for performing at my birthday party last week, you guys were totally awesome. As you were aware, everybody was up dancing for so much of the night, a few embarrassed friends are still recovering from their behaviour! I had such a fantastic night and it would never have been the same without your band playing. So many friends have asked about you, more business I’m sure.”

(5)

“East River were brilliant. We could not have asked for a better band. The quality was the highest quality and if you are lucky to find availability, book this band. All three members bring a different but equally important dimension to the live performance. We were lucky to get East River due to a late cancellation. The song list they can play is also vast. Book if you can!”

“We have booked Brando many times now for our summer party. They have never failed to encourage energetic audience participation and once people are up to dance they do not stop until the end of the set. The bands stagecraft is second to none. But they are also the most professional and polite group of musicians we have ever met. They are undoubtedly the best party band we have ever experienced.”

“Dear Hireaband - Very happy with Monte Carlo. The choice of music was good and they got people dancing. The manager of the venue also remarked that the guys were very pleasant and that she would recommend them in future. Only problem for me was I spent so much time talking to people I missed most of the second session. The problem with do's like this for the host!”
