Irish Bands in Bristol

Book an Irish band in Bristol

An Irish band turns any celebration into a proper session. In Bristol, Irish acts are booked for weddings, St Patrick's Day parties, milestone birthdays, pub-style nights and corporate events, bringing fiddle, whistle, banjo and bodhrán along with the songs everyone knows the words to.

Bristol has a wide choice of event venues, from Leigh Court and Nailsea Tithe Barn to Goldney Hall. Our Irish acts travel right across the area, including Harbourside, Portishead and Keynsham, so a proper Irish night is never far away.

Within this category you'll find traditional Irish groups, céilí and folk bands, Irish singers and duos, and Celtic rock bands. Many can play a gentle set early on and a full party set later, and their song lists show exactly what they cover.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every Irish act here travels to Bristol as standard, brings the equipment it needs, and the quote you receive includes travel. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • Traditional trad, céilí, Irish folk, ballads and Celtic rock
  • Sets for a drinks reception, a céilí evening or a full party night
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

A solo singer or duo suits a pub-style night or a small gathering. For a wedding or a big party, a four or five-piece band with fiddle and banjo fills the room properly. Tell us the venue and guest numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Expect to pay from around £600 for a solo singer or duo up to £2,500 or more for a full band. Line-up size matters most, then the date and extras such as a céilí caller or a longer set. Every quote includes travel, so nothing is added later.

Every act's page has video and audio of the musicians who would actually play, their repertoire and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to check the style and the atmosphere before you commit.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

The category covers traditional trad groups, céilí bands with a caller, Irish folk and ballad singers, and Celtic rock and Irish party bands that also play modern covers. Each act's page shows its style, line-up and song list.

Yes. Céilí bands come with a caller who explains each dance and walks guests through the steps, so nobody needs to know them in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room dancing together.

Most do. Full bands bring their own PA and lighting; acoustic duos and trios need very little. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most acts are happy to learn a special request with enough notice, whether that's a traditional air for the ceremony, a ballad for the first dance or a family favourite. Mention it when you enquire.

As early as you can. St Patrick's weekend is the busiest time of year for Irish acts, and the best bands are often booked months ahead. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.

“A quick note to you and the rest of the band who came last Saturday to Putney for our 40th Birthday. We and the rest of our friends and family had a fantastic time and you kept the room dancing throughout the night. Hopefully you’ll be available for our 50th ! We’ve had quite a few queries about who you are and how to get hold of you so we’ve sent them your way hopefully they’ll be in touch. Thanks again and Happy Christmas”

“Hickory Smoke were available to stand in at very last minute when our original band dropped out, and we've had nothing but good feedback about the music and have booked them again for our Summer Fete!”

“Declan was incredible and truly set the ambience for our special day (would highly recommend). He even allowed my friend to sing me down the aisle whilst he played guitar. Everyone commented on how amazing his voice was and how relaxed he made them feel.”

“We just wanted to thank you for an absolutely fantastic show. It went down perfectly with the Irish and English crowd. You had many compliments in the days and weeks after the wedding. All the best.”

“We just wanted to pass on our thanks for the incredible performance you gave at our wedding on Saturday. From the first song (amazing – do you have a recording of this?) to the last, you helped us throw the party of our lives and believe me when I say EVERYONE has been talking about how awesome the music was. We’ll certainly be recommending you to one and all for any future events. Hopefully, once we manage to recover financially from the wedding (ha!), we can have you and the guys play at another event in the future for us.”

“Hired the band for our School Burns Night and was blown away by their professionalism and performance! They had all our staff on their feet to dance the night away. Lovely friendly guys, would not hesitate to book them again! Cannot recommend them highly enough!”
