World Music Bands in West Sussex

Themed and world music bands for events in West Sussex

If you want an event with real character, a world music band is a great place to start. Acts across West Sussex play Oktoberfest oompah, Scottish and Irish ceilidh, bagpipes, Latin and Cuban sets, Jewish celebration music and country, and they're booked for parties, festivals and corporate events alike.

Across West Sussex, world music bands are booked for events in and around Crawley, Chichester and Horsham. Venues in the area include Southend Barns, Farbridge and Upwaltham Barns — plenty of room for a dance, a ceilidh or a beer-hall singalong.

Within world music you'll find oompah and Oktoberfest bands, ceilidh and folk bands, pipers and pipe bands, Latin and salsa groups, klezmer and Jewish celebration bands, and country and bluegrass acts. Many can also play a more general party set later in the evening, and their song lists show exactly what they cover.

Since 1999, Hireaband has matched live bands with events of every size. The world music acts listed here all travel to West Sussex, include travel in the price, and arrive with their own sound set-up where it's needed. The instant quote button shows pricing and availability for your date in seconds.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £600 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • Oompah, ceilidh, pipers, Latin, klezmer, country and other themed acts
  • Sets for a themed party, a full ceilidh evening or a festival slot
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Check the room and any sound limiter before you choose. Acoustic and roaming acts work almost anywhere, while amplified ceilidh and party bands need power and floor space. For outdoor events, ask about cover and power for the band.

Most world music bookings fall between about £600 and £2,500. The number of musicians is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long they play — Oktoberfest season and December are the busiest. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay.

Each world music act's page carries real video, audio, a song list and reviews from previous clients. A couple of clips will tell you far more about how an act gets a crowd joining in than any description can.

Enter your date and venue in the instant quote button for live pricing and availability. After you book, we look after the contract, deposit and details, and keep in touch right up to the event. You also get a 14-day change-of-mind refund and an emergency contact number to use on the day.

FAQs

It covers themed and cultural acts rather than a standard covers band: Bavarian oompah bands for Oktoberfest, ceilidh and folk bands, pipers, Latin and salsa groups, klezmer and Jewish celebration bands, and country acts. Each act's page shows its style and repertoire.

Yes. Ceilidh bands come with a caller who explains and walks guests through each dance before the music starts, so nobody needs to know the steps in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room joining in.

Many can. Oompah bands, pipers and smaller Latin or folk line-ups often play acoustically while moving among guests, which works well for drinks receptions, fun days and festivals. Check the act's page or ask us when you enquire.

Most do. Stage and ceilidh bands bring their own PA; acoustic and roaming acts may need nothing at all. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

For Oktoberfest (September and October), Burns Night, St Patrick's Day and December, book as early as you can — these are the busiest dates for themed acts. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.

“What can I say about the Insane Pipes? Quite simply they brought a huge smile to everyone's face with their performance on the Main Stage at this years Wessex Folk Festival was one of the highlights of the festival. Of course you can hear them from a long distance away, but that would not do justice to what are a great band of musicians. Their performance was one of the highlights of the festival and they had the crowd on their feet wanting more from their very first number to the last. This was a real treat by a tight unit who know how to play their instruments and work an audience. If you get the chance go see the band as it is well worth it ‬”
