World Music Bands in the South East

World music acts across the South East

The South East covers a lot of ground, from Canterbury, Henley-on-Thames, Chichester, Cowes, Newbury and Eastbourne. Our world music acts travel right across the region, so wherever your wedding or event is, you'll find acts on this page who already know the venues, the roads and the local crowds. They're booked for weddings, themed parties and cultural celebrations.

This region page covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Kent, London, Oxfordshire, Surrey and West Sussex. If you already know which area your venue is in, the links below take you to the page for that area, with venues and acts picked for it.

Popular venues across the region include The Old Kent Barn, Blenheim Palace, Farbridge, Northwood House, Ufton Court and Buxted Park Hotel. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we can usually say which acts have played there before.

The category covers ceilidh, Greek, oompah, steel, Bollywood and other world music acts. Their pages show exactly what each one plays, so you can match the act to your guests and your venue.

Since 1999, Hireaband has matched acts with clients right across the country. The world music acts here all cover the South East and include PA, lighting and travel in the price. The instant quote button shows pricing and availability for your date in seconds.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: £600 to £2,500, depending on line-up, date and how long the act plays
  • Always included: PA, lighting and travel, in every quote
  • Acts travel to venues right across the South East
  • Summer Saturdays and December dates book up first
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Start with the space and the guest numbers. A smaller line-up suits an intimate room or a venue with a sound limiter, while a larger act fills a ballroom or marquee. Tell us the venue and numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Most bookings fall between £600 and £2,500. The size of the line-up is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long the act plays. PA, lighting and travel are included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay, wherever you are in the South East.

Every act's page has video and audio of the performers who would actually play at your wedding or event, a full song list and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to judge the style before you commit.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

It covers themed and cultural acts rather than a standard covers band: Bavarian oompah bands for Oktoberfest, ceilidh and folk bands, pipers, Latin and salsa groups, klezmer and Jewish celebration bands, and country acts. Each act's page shows its style and repertoire.

Yes. Ceilidh bands come with a caller who explains and walks guests through each dance before the music starts, so nobody needs to know the steps in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room joining in.

Many can. Oompah bands, pipers and smaller Latin or folk line-ups often play acoustically while moving among guests, which works well for drinks receptions, fun days and festivals. Check the act's page or ask us when you enquire.

Most do. Stage and ceilidh bands bring their own PA; acoustic and roaming acts may need nothing at all. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

For Oktoberfest (September and October), Burns Night, St Patrick's Day and December, book as early as you can — these are the busiest dates for themed acts. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.

“These are not to be missed! Whatever your mood or fancy, they'll pick you up and throw you about for a couple of hours, leaving you feeling high in the sky, or more likely dancing on tables! Great fun, great leader and a guaranteed good time!"”

“We just wanted to say a massive thank you for Saturday!! You guys were absolutely awesome, all of our guests absolutely loved it and had an amazing time!! Lots of the guys down from Scotland were saying that was the best ceilidh band they have seen and everyone since has been telling us how much of a great time they had and how well called it was - even had a few requests for your details from guests!!
Thank you so much”

“What can I say about the Insane Pipes? Quite simply they brought a huge smile to everyone's face with their performance on the Main Stage at this years Wessex Folk Festival was one of the highlights of the festival. Of course you can hear them from a long distance away, but that would not do justice to what are a great band of musicians. Their performance was one of the highlights of the festival and they had the crowd on their feet wanting more from their very first number to the last. This was a real treat by a tight unit who know how to play their instruments and work an audience. If you get the chance go see the band as it is well worth it ‬”

“The guys were very adaptable about playing outside (covered but cool courtyard despite the heaters) and kindly played on for a short time after the agreed hour to allow guests to go into dinner.
We hope they enjoyed their cigars.”

“Played at my venue a couple weeks back and absolutely rocked it! They got the crowd up and going, created an amazing atmosphere and sounded great. An added bonus that they just happen to be lovely people as well. Will definitely have them back and couldn't recommend them enough to other venues or parties!”

“From start to finish the communication from Irving (HireABand) and Max (Badass Brass) have been excellent. On the lead up to the big day Max was very helpful and patient and teh performance itself went down a storm. I would highly recommend both to anyone in the future.”
