Roaming Bands in North Wales

Book a roaming band in North Wales

If you want live music that feels part of the day rather than a performance in the corner, a roaming band is the answer. In North Wales, our roaming acts are booked for weddings, garden parties, product launches and Christmas events, moving among guests, playing close to small groups and taking requests as they go.

North Wales has a wide choice of wedding and event venues, from Portmeirion and Plas Dinam to Bodnant Welsh Food Centre. Our roaming acts travel right across the area, including Llangollen, Wrexham and Llandudno, and can move between spaces as your guests do.

Roaming bands come in many styles. Some play acoustic versions of pop and chart hits, some play vintage swing and jazz, and others bring brass, folk or a New Orleans street-band feel. Watching a couple of videos is the quickest way to find the one that fits your day.

Since 1999, Hireaband has matched live bands with events of every size. The roaming acts listed here all travel to North Wales, include travel in the price, and arrive with their own sound set-up where it's needed. The instant quote button shows pricing and availability for your date in seconds.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • The band moves around the room, playing to small groups of guests at a time
  • No stage and usually no power needed
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Most roaming acts play in sets of 30 to 45 minutes. Rather than staying in one place, they move around the room, stop with a group of guests for a song or two, then move on to the next. Many can also play a static set during a meal or on a terrace, so mention it if you'd like both.

A duo or trio typically starts from around £800, while a four-piece or brass band for a longer reception can reach £2,500 or more. The date and your set times make a difference too. The price in your quote includes travel, so it won't change once you've booked.

Every act's page has video and audio of the musicians who would actually play, their repertoire and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to check the style and the atmosphere before you commit.

Enter your date and venue in the instant quote button for live pricing and availability. After you book, we look after the contract, deposit and details, and keep in touch right up to the event. You also get a 14-day change-of-mind refund and an emergency contact number to use on the day.

FAQs

A roaming band plays acoustically while moving around the room or garden, stopping to play to small groups of guests at a time rather than performing from a stage. They're ideal for wedding drinks receptions, garden parties and corporate events where guests are mingling.

Usually not. Most roaming acts play fully acoustic, so they need no stage, PA or power. If they also play a static set with amplification, they'll let you know what they need.

Yes, and many bookings are outdoors. It's worth agreeing a covered spot with the venue in case of rain, and roaming acts can move inside quickly if the weather changes.

From around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two or three sets of 30 to 45 minutes, which covers a typical wedding drinks reception. Longer bookings, or a mix of roaming and static sets, can be arranged when you enquire.

Yes. Many couples book a roaming act for the drinks reception and a separate band or DJ for the evening. We can quote for both together.

“We based the date if our wedding on the availability of Tommy and Sons, and we are so glad we did. The band were phenomenal! Everyone danced the night away from the very first song. The guys were so friendly and professional and such a pleasure to have as part of our wedding. We have received so many compliments on just how good, how polished the band were. It absolutely made our day... You guys totally rocked Stourhead, Wiltshire!”

“Just a quick one to say thanks so much to you and Helen!!! I didn’t get to see you when you finished as the evening guests had started arriving I think! I was worried I’d end up missing lots of things I wanted to do but I’m so thrilled I saw loads of your songs. We had SO many people coming up to us saying how brilliant you were - honestly you were fab! So talented. We’re so glad we booked you!!! Xx”
