Roaming Bands in Cheshire

Hire a roaming band for your wedding or event in Cheshire

Roaming bands are one of the easiest ways to lift a wedding reception. Acts across Cheshire need no stage and usually no power, so they can start as soon as guests arrive, follow them from the ceremony to the drinks and move around the room playing to small groups while everyone mingles.

Popular event venues in Cheshire include Peckforton Castle, Styal Lodge and De Vere Cranage Estate, and our roaming bands play weddings and events across Knutsford, Nantwich and Chester. Tell us your venue and where guests will gather when you enquire and we'll suggest acts that suit.

Roaming bands come in many styles. Some play acoustic versions of pop and chart hits, some play vintage swing and jazz, and others bring brass, folk or a New Orleans street-band feel. Watching a couple of videos is the quickest way to find the one that fits your day.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every roaming act here travels to Cheshire as standard, brings the equipment it needs, and the quote you receive includes travel. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • The band moves around the room, playing to small groups of guests at a time
  • No stage and usually no power needed
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

A duo is ideal for smaller, conversation-led receptions. For a large wedding or a busy garden party, a four-piece or brass band carries further and makes more of a moment. Tell us the venue and guest numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Most roaming band bookings fall between about £800 and £2,500. The number of musicians is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long they play. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay.

Every act's page has video and audio of the musicians who would actually play, their repertoire and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to check the style and the atmosphere before you commit.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

A roaming band plays acoustically while moving around the room or garden, stopping to play to small groups of guests at a time rather than performing from a stage. They're ideal for wedding drinks receptions, garden parties and corporate events where guests are mingling.

Usually not. Most roaming acts play fully acoustic, so they need no stage, PA or power. If they also play a static set with amplification, they'll let you know what they need.

Yes, and many bookings are outdoors. It's worth agreeing a covered spot with the venue in case of rain, and roaming acts can move inside quickly if the weather changes.

From around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two or three sets of 30 to 45 minutes, which covers a typical wedding drinks reception. Longer bookings, or a mix of roaming and static sets, can be arranged when you enquire.

Yes. Many couples book a roaming act for the drinks reception and a separate band or DJ for the evening. We can quote for both together.

“We couldn't be happier with our choice to book the Central Park band for our wedding day. From a logistics standpoint, they were highly professional, organized, and easy to communicate with. As for the performance, they were phenomenal. The unique roaming sets during the drinks reception were a massive hit and set us up perfectly for the rest of the our day. If you are looking for an exceptional entertainment for your wedding day, book Central Park. They are worth every penny!”
