Jazz Bands in North Wales

Live jazz for events in North Wales

Live jazz changes the feel of a room without taking it over. In North Wales, jazz bands are booked for wedding drinks receptions, corporate dinners, awards evenings, garden parties and milestone celebrations — anywhere the music needs to sound polished and relaxed, with the option to lift the tempo once the evening gets going.

Whether your event is near Bangor, Llandudno and Wrexham or further afield, the jazz acts here cover the whole of North Wales. Local venues include Plas Dinas Country House, Bodnant Welsh Food Centre and Ruthin Castle — if you're still choosing a venue, it's worth checking where the music will be set up.

Not every jazz band sounds the same. You'll find smooth lounge trios, gypsy jazz groups in the Django Reinhardt tradition, trad and New Orleans bands, Latin and bossa nova specialists, and acts who give chart songs a jazz treatment. It's worth deciding which mood you're after before comparing prices.

Since 1999, Hireaband has matched live musicians with events of every size. The jazz acts listed here all travel to North Wales, include their travel in the price, and arrive with their own sound set-up where the room needs it. The essentials:

• Typical cost: from around £500 for a jazz duo to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up and date
• Line-ups from solo pianist or duo through to a five or six-piece jazz band
• Background sets for receptions and dinners, or livelier swing for dancing
• Travel is included in every quote
• Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Think about when the music will play. Background jazz during drinks or a meal works best with a smaller, acoustic line-up at a gentle volume. A later set for dancing needs more weight, so a quartet or quintet with drums and horns makes more sense. Some events book one act to cover both.

A duo or trio for a reception typically costs from around £500, while a five or six-piece band for a full evening can reach £2,500 or more. The date and the number of sets also make a difference. The price in your quote includes travel, so it won't change once you've booked.

Each jazz act's page carries real video and audio, a song list and reviews from previous clients. Watching a couple of clips tells you far more about the feel of a band than any description can, so it's worth listening before you choose.
