Roaming Bands in Liverpool

Hire a roaming band for your wedding or event in Liverpool

Roaming bands are one of the easiest ways to lift a wedding reception. Acts across Liverpool need no stage and usually no power, so they can start as soon as guests arrive, follow them from the ceremony to the drinks and move around the room playing to small groups while everyone mingles.

Liverpool has a wide choice of wedding and event venues, from Liverpool Cathedral and Blackstock Market to Titanic Hotel Liverpool. Our roaming acts travel right across the area, including the Albert Dock, Southport and Formby, and can move between spaces as your guests do.

Roaming bands come in many styles. Some play acoustic versions of pop and chart hits, some play vintage swing and jazz, and others bring brass, folk or a New Orleans street-band feel. Watching a couple of videos is the quickest way to find the one that fits your day.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every roaming act here travels to Liverpool as standard, brings the equipment it needs, and the quote you receive includes travel. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • The band moves around the room, playing to small groups of guests at a time
  • No stage and usually no power needed
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Start with the space and the guest numbers. A duo suits a drinks reception of up to about 80 guests, a trio or four-piece suits a larger lawn or several rooms, and a brass band suits a big outdoor event or a grand entrance.

Expect to pay from around £800 for a smaller act up to £2,500 or more for a larger band. Line-up size matters most, then the date and extras such as an extra set during the meal. Every quote includes travel, so nothing is added later.

Every act's page has video and audio of the musicians who would actually play, their repertoire and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to check the style and the atmosphere before you commit.

Enter your date and venue in the instant quote button for live pricing and availability. After you book, we look after the contract, deposit and details, and keep in touch right up to the event. You also get a 14-day change-of-mind refund and an emergency contact number to use on the day.

FAQs

A roaming band plays acoustically while moving around the room or garden, stopping to play to small groups of guests at a time rather than performing from a stage. They're ideal for wedding drinks receptions, garden parties and corporate events where guests are mingling.

Usually not. Most roaming acts play fully acoustic, so they need no stage, PA or power. If they also play a static set with amplification, they'll let you know what they need.

Yes, and many bookings are outdoors. It's worth agreeing a covered spot with the venue in case of rain, and roaming acts can move inside quickly if the weather changes.

From around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two or three sets of 30 to 45 minutes, which covers a typical wedding drinks reception. Longer bookings, or a mix of roaming and static sets, can be arranged when you enquire.

Yes. Many couples book a roaming act for the drinks reception and a separate band or DJ for the evening. We can quote for both together.

“Sorry for the delay in this message, we just wanted to say a huge thank you to the guys for an incredible set. We know everyone was on the dancefloor from the get go until the very end and had the best time. The energy was incredible and I wish we could re-live it over again! Looking forward to seeing our photos and video footage so we can see how much fun everyone was having. Also, the first dance song was absolutely perfect and just how we had imagined it, so please do pass on our gratitude.”

“THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING! You guys are incredibly talented and you were loved by our guests and us! Especially our little niece who apparently was the happiest ever when she was listening to you!! Your set was completely the right vibe for our wedding! “Tommy and Sons were excellent. They created a really great vibe on the night and were able to play our first dance request. We would highly recommend them.”

“Now I've come back down to earth I just want to say a huge thank you to you both for what an amazing job you did! You were absolutely fantastic and Craig was over the moon! You played all our favourite songs and we got so many compliments from the guests! I shall write you a 5-star review as it’s the least you deserve for absolutely making our day the perfect day it was. Thanks so much again!”

“Thanks so much, we and everyone there had a great night! Carrie and myself thought the band was perfect, and everyone else there also thought you guys were fantastic- there was a lot of compliments from the guests. Thanks again for a great, and entertaining set!”

“Tommy & Sons we’re absolutely phenomenal - and every one of our guests would agree! (So much so, we have friends desperate to try and hire them for their weddings abroad!) They went above and beyond to learn not just one, but numerous songs, take requests, change their schedule to our order of the day and perform a great DJ set to suit the vibe of the evening. Their outstanding vocals, upbeat nature and friendly personalities were just the cherry on top of the cake! We can’t recommend this band enough for other couples wanting to dance the night away and impress their guests with incredible live music! You won’t be disappointed!”
