Mumford & Sons Style Wedding Bands in the North East

Mumford-style wedding bands covering the whole of the North East

The North East covers a lot of ground, from Durham, Gateshead, Middlesbrough and Alnwick. Our Mumford-style wedding bands travel right across the region, so wherever your wedding is, you'll find acts on this page who already know the venues, the roads and the local crowds. They're booked for barn and marquee weddings.

This region page covers Durham, Middlesbrough, Newcastle upon Tyne and Northumberland. If you already know which area your venue is in, the links below take you to the page for that area, with venues and acts picked for it.

From Black Horse Beamish and Wylam Brewery to Rushpool Hall, Ellingham Hall, Bradbury Glade and The Vermont Hotel, the venues across the North East range from grand country houses to barns, hotels and city spaces. Our acts are used to adapting to all of them.

The category covers folk-rock bands with banjo, fiddle, mandolin and stomp box. Their pages show exactly what each one plays, so you can match the act to your guests and your venue.

Hireaband has been booking live entertainment since 1999. Every band listed here covers the North East, and PA, lighting and travel are included in the quote you receive. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: £1,000 to £3,000, depending on line-up, date and how long the act plays
  • Always included: PA, lighting and travel, in every quote
  • Acts travel to venues right across the North East
  • Summer Saturdays and December dates book up first
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Start with the space and the guest numbers. A smaller line-up suits an intimate room or a venue with a sound limiter, while a larger act fills a ballroom or marquee. Tell us the venue and numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Smaller line-ups typically start from around £1,000, while bigger acts can reach £3,000 or more. Summer Saturdays and December are the busiest dates. The price in your quote includes PA, lighting and travel, so it won't change once you've booked.

Rather than a generic demo, every act's page shows the actual line-up you'd be booking, with videos, audio and a song list. Underneath are reviews from clients, often at venues you'll recognise.

Enter your date and venue in the instant quote button for live pricing and availability. After you book, we look after the contract, deposit and details, and keep in touch right up to the event. You also get a 14-day change-of-mind refund and an emergency contact number to use on the day.

FAQs

It's a folk-rock band built around acoustic instruments like banjo, mandolin, fiddle and acoustic guitar, with a driving beat from a kick drum or stomp box. They play folk anthems and folk-style versions of pop and rock hits.

Most can. Many bands offer an unplugged set for the drinks reception, often moving among guests, before their full evening set. Mention it when you enquire and we'll include it in the quote.

Yes. Bands bring their own PA and lighting for the evening set, and acoustic sets need little or nothing. The full band needs floor space and power nearby, so check both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £1,000 for a smaller band to £3,000 or more for a larger line-up. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

It's one of the most popular choices. The acoustic instruments and foot-stomping energy suit barns, marquees and outdoor venues, and the sound works well in rooms where a louder band might struggle.

Yes. Most folk-rock bands play folk-style versions of pop, rock and chart hits alongside folk anthems, so there's something for every guest. Each act's song list shows exactly what they cover.

“From start to finish communication with Ian and the band members was great. They were very attentive and paid close attention to our wishes prior to the event. On the night itself this paid off as they catered to every detail and request we made. Their performance on the night was fantastic! All night myself and our guests were on our feet and I received countless compliments on the band. They're very talented at what they do and sounded great. They completely made our wedding reception! Thank you x”

“Karl and the band were excellent. I was apprehensive about having a Céilidh for the wedding as a number of our guests had never done one before but Karl was really good at explaining the moves and the guests absolutely loved it. It was a real feature of our wedding that everyone will remember for years to come. Thank you Hickory Smoke, I would recommend you to anyone.”

“All I've heard since the wedding, was how much everyone enjoyed the music, so many thanks to you and the guys.”

“Thank you very muck to Shoeshine for making our day a really special one. The band arrived and were attentive to the fact we were sitting down. They agreed to where we were wanting them to set up and didn't make any undue noise in the background for their sound checks. The first two sessions were perfect music for the day (it was really hot and everyone was outside) but the last session had loads of us on the dance floor and finished off what was a perfect day (even leaving some background music to the last minute!) The service has been fantastic and I would recommend Shoeshine and the Hireaband staff easily.”

“These guys were unbelievable - they had very guest on there feet dancing - some of which were still recovering from knee and back surgery's! They played multiple last songs and just gave out the most incredible vibe. I'm still getting messages from the guest saying how amazing they were :) 10/10 would recommend!”

“Hope Street played at our wedding on 18th August 2018. They were absolutely outstanding! Had the dance floor packed all evening and really made our evening reception one to remember for everyone. So many guests commented on how good they were i can't thank them enough and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a top class band for your wedding. Hireaband were also a great agency to work with providing us with info whenever we needed it.”
