World Music Bands in Shropshire

Themed and world music bands for events in Shropshire

If you want an event with real character, a world music band is a great place to start. Acts across Shropshire play Oktoberfest oompah, Scottish and Irish ceilidh, bagpipes, Latin and Cuban sets, Jewish celebration music and country, and they're booked for parties, festivals and corporate events alike.

Whether your event is near Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Oswestry or elsewhere in Shropshire, the acts on this page cover the whole area. Local venues include Hawkstone Hall & Gardens, Rowton Castle and Wilde Lodge — if you're planning a themed night, it's worth checking where a band would set up and whether roaming around the room is possible.

Not every world music act does the same job. A ceilidh band runs the whole evening as a participation dance, an oompah band leads singalongs and drinking songs, and a Latin or klezmer group brings a lively set to dance to. Knowing the kind of night you want makes the choice much easier.

We've been booking live bands since 1999, and every world music act on this page covers Shropshire. Travel is built into the quote, the band brings what it needs to be heard, and you can check your date and price straight away with the instant quote button.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £600 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • Oompah, ceilidh, pipers, Latin, klezmer, country and other themed acts
  • Sets for a themed party, a full ceilidh evening or a festival slot
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Start with the theme. An Oktoberfest or beer festival suits an oompah band; a Burns Night or St Patrick's party suits a ceilidh band with a caller, or a piper to pipe in the haggis; a summer party or salsa night suits a Latin group. Many acts come in several sizes, from a small roaming line-up to a full stage band.

Most world music bookings fall between about £600 and £2,500. The number of musicians is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long they play — Oktoberfest season and December are the busiest. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay.

Every act's page has video and audio of the musicians who would actually play, their repertoire and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to check the style and the fun factor before you commit.

Enter your date and venue in the instant quote button for live pricing and availability. After you book, we look after the contract, deposit and details, and keep in touch right up to the event. You also get a 14-day change-of-mind refund and an emergency contact number to use on the day.

FAQs

It covers themed and cultural acts rather than a standard covers band: Bavarian oompah bands for Oktoberfest, ceilidh and folk bands, pipers, Latin and salsa groups, klezmer and Jewish celebration bands, and country acts. Each act's page shows its style and repertoire.

Yes. Ceilidh bands come with a caller who explains and walks guests through each dance before the music starts, so nobody needs to know the steps in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room joining in.

Many can. Oompah bands, pipers and smaller Latin or folk line-ups often play acoustically while moving among guests, which works well for drinks receptions, fun days and festivals. Check the act's page or ask us when you enquire.

Most do. Stage and ceilidh bands bring their own PA; acoustic and roaming acts may need nothing at all. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

For Oktoberfest (September and October), Burns Night, St Patrick's Day and December, book as early as you can — these are the busiest dates for themed acts. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.
