World Music Bands in North Wales

Oompah, ceilidh, Latin and world music in North Wales

World music covers the bands that make an event feel like somewhere else. In North Wales, they're a favourite for themed parties, corporate away days, Christmas markets and family celebrations, with acts that get guests clapping, stomping and joining in from the first number.

Across North Wales, world music bands are booked for events in and around Llandudno, Llangollen and Wrexham. Venues in the area include Portmeirion, Bodnant Welsh Food Centre and Soughton Hall — plenty of room for a dance, a ceilidh or a beer-hall singalong.

Within world music you'll find oompah and Oktoberfest bands, ceilidh and folk bands, pipers and pipe bands, Latin and salsa groups, klezmer and Jewish celebration bands, and country and bluegrass acts. Many can also play a more general party set later in the evening, and their song lists show exactly what they cover.

Since 1999, Hireaband has matched live bands with events of every size. The world music acts listed here all travel to North Wales, include travel in the price, and arrive with their own sound set-up where it's needed. The instant quote button shows pricing and availability for your date in seconds.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £600 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • Oompah, ceilidh, pipers, Latin, klezmer, country and other themed acts
  • Sets for a themed party, a full ceilidh evening or a festival slot
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Some world music acts play a set on stage, others move among guests during a drinks reception or a fun day, and many can do both. For a ceilidh you'll need a clear dance floor; for an oompah band or roaming Latin group, space to move through the crowd matters more than a stage.

Most world music bookings fall between about £600 and £2,500. The number of musicians is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long they play — Oktoberfest season and December are the busiest. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay.

Each world music act's page carries real video, audio, a song list and reviews from previous clients. A couple of clips will tell you far more about how an act gets a crowd joining in than any description can.

Use the instant quote button on this page to see prices and availability for your date. Once you've chosen an act, we handle the contract, the deposit and the arrangements, and stay in touch through to the day. Every booking includes a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and an emergency contact line is available on the day if anything needs sorting quickly.

FAQs

It covers themed and cultural acts rather than a standard covers band: Bavarian oompah bands for Oktoberfest, ceilidh and folk bands, pipers, Latin and salsa groups, klezmer and Jewish celebration bands, and country acts. Each act's page shows its style and repertoire.

Yes. Ceilidh bands come with a caller who explains and walks guests through each dance before the music starts, so nobody needs to know the steps in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room joining in.

Many can. Oompah bands, pipers and smaller Latin or folk line-ups often play acoustically while moving among guests, which works well for drinks receptions, fun days and festivals. Check the act's page or ask us when you enquire.

Most do. Stage and ceilidh bands bring their own PA; acoustic and roaming acts may need nothing at all. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

For Oktoberfest (September and October), Burns Night, St Patrick's Day and December, book as early as you can — these are the busiest dates for themed acts. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.

“Hi Tom,
Just to say a huge thank you for playing at The Round Chapel Hackney. You all battled on so well through the heat. Your calling was great and so many of my friends absolutely loved their first ever ceilidh.
Needless to say we've all lost a stone over the weekend!
I will definitely recommend you guys to anyone I know who is looking for a band in the future,
Thanks very much again”

“I had the pleasure of working with the band on our Oktoberfest Comes to Glasgow and Oktoberfest Comes to Manchester shows this year. From start to finish, the team went above and beyond to ensure that our customers received the best experience possible. They are by far the best oompah band I have hired and really know how to get the crowd involved. From a management perspective, I was incredibly impressed with the professionalism and organisation of the band and everything run very smoothly. I have even booked them for next year's events in advance. A huge thank you again to the whole band!”

“Thank you so much for your support and the really amazing show you put on. I don't have to tell you that your band really energised the crowd and were absolutely perfect for the event. Because of the ferries, the fireworks have to be programmed to the second and it was pleasing to see them fitting in so well with your performance. I understand that like last year, we had near record numbers on the gate.

Thank you again, you were terrific.”

“Hickory Smoke were available to stand in at very last minute when our original band dropped out, and we've had nothing but good feedback about the music and have booked them again for our Summer Fete!”

“We had so much fun and a lot of that was down to you guys! The violin during the ceremony was perfect and thank you for playing during the canapes, even though we weren't there for this we received many comments that you were both great.
The ceilidh was amazing! Sorry we were difficult to teach, I think for many of our guests this was their first experience of one! But most importantly everyone loved it and had an awesome time.
We would recommend you without hesitation!”

“Hi Tom,
Many thanks to you, the superb band and all the staff at the metalworks for giving us such a great evening on Saturday.
We liked the calling, Tom - just enough info then let them get on with it!
We will certainly be running another such event in the future as our guests loved it.
Thanks again and very best wishes, Ann”
