World Music Bands in Manchester

Themed and world music bands for events in Manchester

World music covers the bands that make an event feel like somewhere else. In Manchester, they're a favourite for themed parties, corporate away days, Christmas markets and family celebrations, with acts that get guests clapping, stomping and joining in from the first number.

Whether your event is near the city centre, Salford Quays and Didsbury or elsewhere in Manchester, the acts on this page cover the whole area. Local venues include Ordsall Hall, The Whitworth and The Monastery Manchester — if you're planning a themed night, it's worth checking where a band would set up and whether roaming around the room is possible.

World music is a broad category. Some acts are Bavarian oompah bands in lederhosen, others are ceilidh bands with a caller who teaches every dance or pipers who lead a grand entrance, and others play Latin, klezmer or country. Watching a couple of videos is the quickest way to find the one that fits your theme.

We've been booking live bands since 1999, and every world music act on this page covers Manchester. Travel is built into the quote, the band brings what it needs to be heard, and you can check your date and price straight away with the instant quote button.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £600 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • Oompah, ceilidh, pipers, Latin, klezmer, country and other themed acts
  • Sets for a themed party, a full ceilidh evening or a festival slot
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

A three or four-piece suits most parties and roaming sets. For a large beer festival, a full ceilidh evening or a big corporate event, a five-piece or larger band fills the space properly. Tell us the venue, the theme and the guest numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Most world music bookings fall between about £600 and £2,500. The number of musicians is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long they play — Oktoberfest season and December are the busiest. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay.

Each world music act's page carries real video, audio, a song list and reviews from previous clients. A couple of clips will tell you far more about how an act gets a crowd joining in than any description can.

Enter your date and venue in the instant quote button for live pricing and availability. After you book, we look after the contract, deposit and details, and keep in touch right up to the event. You also get a 14-day change-of-mind refund and an emergency contact number to use on the day.

FAQs

It covers themed and cultural acts rather than a standard covers band: Bavarian oompah bands for Oktoberfest, ceilidh and folk bands, pipers, Latin and salsa groups, klezmer and Jewish celebration bands, and country acts. Each act's page shows its style and repertoire.

Yes. Ceilidh bands come with a caller who explains and walks guests through each dance before the music starts, so nobody needs to know the steps in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room joining in.

Many can. Oompah bands, pipers and smaller Latin or folk line-ups often play acoustically while moving among guests, which works well for drinks receptions, fun days and festivals. Check the act's page or ask us when you enquire.

Most do. Stage and ceilidh bands bring their own PA; acoustic and roaming acts may need nothing at all. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

For Oktoberfest (September and October), Burns Night, St Patrick's Day and December, book as early as you can — these are the busiest dates for themed acts. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.

“From start to finish the communication from Irving (HireABand) and Max (Badass Brass) have been excellent. On the lead up to the big day Max was very helpful and patient and teh performance itself went down a storm. I would highly recommend both to anyone in the future.”

“Hired the band for our School Burns Night and was blown away by their professionalism and performance! They had all our staff on their feet to dance the night away. Lovely friendly guys, would not hesitate to book them again! Cannot recommend them highly enough!”

“The band were without doubt the highlight of our evening. The musical fusion of traditional with modern music was a fantastic take on the ceilidh and provided a great source of entertainment. The dance floor was never empty and we would thoroughly recommend the band to anyone looking for a quality, highly trained, entertaining live band to add a touch of class to any event.”

“Hi Tom,
Just to say a huge thank you for playing at The Round Chapel Hackney. You all battled on so well through the heat. Your calling was great and so many of my friends absolutely loved their first ever ceilidh.
Needless to say we've all lost a stone over the weekend!
I will definitely recommend you guys to anyone I know who is looking for a band in the future,
Thanks very much again”

“I had the pleasure of working with the band on our Oktoberfest Comes to Glasgow and Oktoberfest Comes to Manchester shows this year. From start to finish, the team went above and beyond to ensure that our customers received the best experience possible. They are by far the best oompah band I have hired and really know how to get the crowd involved. From a management perspective, I was incredibly impressed with the professionalism and organisation of the band and everything run very smoothly. I have even booked them for next year's events in advance. A huge thank you again to the whole band!”

“Thank you so much for your support and the really amazing show you put on. I don't have to tell you that your band really energised the crowd and were absolutely perfect for the event. Because of the ferries, the fireworks have to be programmed to the second and it was pleasing to see them fitting in so well with your performance. I understand that like last year, we had near record numbers on the gate.

Thank you again, you were terrific.”
