Wedding Bands in Kent

What a Kent wedding asks of a band

Hireaband has been booking live music for Kent weddings since 1999. Every act on this page is one we represent and have worked with — a covers band, a party band, a function band, whatever you call it, the job is the same: read the room and fill the floor. You can hear each one, see real client reviews, and check your date without a phone call.

Kent covers a lot of ground. A barn near Sevenoaks, a clifftop at Whitstable and a castle outside Maidstone are three different rooms, and the band that suits one is not always the band that suits another. Two things come up more here than almost anywhere else we book.

The first is sound limiters. Kent has a high concentration of converted barns and listed buildings, and a great many of them run a limiter — a device that cuts the power if the volume passes a set level. A band that has played the venue knows how to work with it; a band that has not can find the power going off mid-song. It is the single most useful question to ask before you book anything.

The second is access and timing. Coastal and rural Kent venues often have a tight load-in, a narrow lane, or a curfew set by neighbours rather than the venue. None of it is a problem when it is known in advance, and all of it is a problem when it is not.

What a wedding band costs in Kent. Most Kent weddings book a four- or five-piece for somewhere between £1,400 and £2,600. What moves the number is the size of the line-up, the day of the week, the time of year, and how far the band travels. A Saturday in July costs more than a Friday in November, and a three-piece costs less than a seven-piece with horns. We quote on the real date and the real venue rather than a list price, and the quote includes PA and lighting unless it says otherwise.

How to book one. Tell us the date and the venue and we will come back with the acts that are free and suit the room. If you would like to see a band live before you commit, ask — we run showcases and can sometimes get you into a public date. Nothing is held until it is confirmed in writing, and what is confirmed is what turns up.

FAQs

Most Kent weddings book a four- or five-piece for £1,400–£2,600. The line-up size, the day of the week, the season and the travel distance all move the figure. We quote against your actual date and venue rather than a price list, and PA and lighting are included unless the quote says otherwise.
All of it — Canterbury, Maidstone, Tunbridge Wells, Ashford, Sevenoaks, Rochester, the Medway towns and the coast from Whitstable round to Dover. Most of our acts also cover the bordering parts of East Sussex and Surrey, and plenty travel from London, which is close enough that it rarely adds a travel charge.
A limiter cuts the power if the volume passes a set level, and a lot of Kent’s barn and listed-building venues have one. It is not a problem for a band that has met one before — they adjust the backline and use electronic drums if needed. Tell us the venue and we will tell you what to expect.
Almost always, yes, if you give them reasonable notice — six weeks is comfortable. Some songs do not translate to a live line-up, and the band will say so rather than do it badly. If it will not work, they can play the record and come in afterwards.
Twelve to eighteen months for a Saturday in peak season, and January and February are the busiest booking months of the year. Off-peak dates and weekdays hold much later. If your date is close, ask anyway — availability moves.
Sometimes. We run private showcases where you can see several acts in one evening, and occasionally we can get you into a public date. Every act here also has video and client reviews, which is how most people decide.

“Where do we start?! The Tommy Guns were unbelievably amazing on our wedding day. They absolutely MADE our wedding reception and gave us and our guests a night we’ll never forget. One of the things we appreciated most was how kind and accommodating the band were. They performed our first dance song for us, which wasn’t a song in their usual setlist, and were absolutely brilliant. It was such a special moment and one we’ll always treasure.”

“Kickback performed at our wedding on Saturday and they were amazing! Everyone said how brilliant they were to us and they kept people dancing all night. Hireaband were seamless to deal with. Their communications were spot on in the lead up and Kickback were a lot of fun on the night. Thank you all!”

“Tommy & Sons played an acoustic set and a band set at our wedding at East Quay Venue on 18th November and they were absolutely fantastic! The dance floor was full and the atmosphere was incredible - our guests loved them as much as we did! They were a lovely group of guys and a pleasure to have at our wedding. We really can’t recommend them highly enough - thank you so much!”

“Dear The Honey,
I'm not sure you realise what you did for us.
We had postponed our wedding twice, changed venues, lost suppliers and spent nearly three years trying to get to the day. By the time the evening came around, we were exhausted.
Then you started playing and suddenly everyone we loved was in one room, dancing.
Yellow was the moment I completely lost it. I looked across the dance floor and saw my mum, my best friend, my brother and my husband all singing together. It was one of the most beautiful moments of the entire day.
And then, naturally, you followed it with absolute chaos.
Kyanna was incredible - effortlessly good at singing - and the boys were completely locked in. Owen in particular seemed physically incapable of stopping.
We booked a wedding band. What we got was a proper live show, and it was so cool to make friends with you all after.
Thank you for giving us the ending our wedding deserved. We will genuinely never forget it.”

“Thank you so much to Kickback for their performance at our wedding - they were fantastic! Such a fun, polite and professional band. They kept our guests dancing throughout and so many people have commented on how great they are! We had a real mix of ages at our wedding and the live sets and the DJ sets in between were well chosen and really read the room well. We were so pleased that Kickback were willing to learn our choice of First Dance - a lovely touch that meant a lot! We also loved the elongated version of 500 Miles at the end of the evening - they could tell no-one wanted to stop dancing and so just kept it going - inspired! We are so pleased that we chose Kickback for our wedding - without a doubt they made a real impact on the day, and we would highly recommend them!”

“The Tommy Guns delivered an unbelievable service on our wedding day. They were friendly and professional throughout, and their performance on the night was unforgettable. They learned our first dance song and delivered it with quality. They listened to our preferences and created a top notch setlist. They had the whole place rocking (and crowd surfing) all evening - so many people were asking who they were. A band was such an important part of our reception, and we are so happy that we went with The Tommy Guns - thank you Jono, Ian, Jim, and James! Liam and Ashley.”
