Roaming Bands in East Sussex

Roaming wedding bands for drinks receptions in East Sussex

If you want live music that feels part of the day rather than a performance in the corner, a roaming band is the answer. In East Sussex, our roaming acts are booked for weddings, garden parties, product launches and Christmas events, moving among guests, playing close to small groups and taking requests as they go.

Popular event venues in East Sussex include Brighton College, Flimwell Park and Hendall Manor Barns, and our roaming bands play weddings and events across Hastings, Uckfield and Lewes. Tell us your venue and where guests will gather when you enquire and we'll suggest acts that suit.

Within this category you'll find acoustic duos and trios, roaming swing and jazz groups, walkabout brass bands and acoustic pop acts. Many also offer a static set later in the day, and their song lists show exactly what they cover.

We've been booking live bands since 1999, and every roaming act on this page covers East Sussex. Travel is built into the quote, the band brings what it needs to be heard, and you can check your date and price straight away with the instant quote button.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • The band moves around the room, playing to small groups of guests at a time
  • No stage and usually no power needed
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

A duo is ideal for smaller, conversation-led receptions. For a large wedding or a busy garden party, a four-piece or brass band carries further and makes more of a moment. Tell us the venue and guest numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Most roaming band bookings fall between about £800 and £2,500. The number of musicians is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long they play. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay.

Each roaming act's page carries real video, audio, a song list and reviews from previous clients. A couple of clips will tell you far more about how a band works a room than any description can.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

A roaming band plays acoustically while moving around the room or garden, stopping to play to small groups of guests at a time rather than performing from a stage. They're ideal for wedding drinks receptions, garden parties and corporate events where guests are mingling.

Usually not. Most roaming acts play fully acoustic, so they need no stage, PA or power. If they also play a static set with amplification, they'll let you know what they need.

Yes, and many bookings are outdoors. It's worth agreeing a covered spot with the venue in case of rain, and roaming acts can move inside quickly if the weather changes.

From around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two or three sets of 30 to 45 minutes, which covers a typical wedding drinks reception. Longer bookings, or a mix of roaming and static sets, can be arranged when you enquire.

Yes. Many couples book a roaming act for the drinks reception and a separate band or DJ for the evening. We can quote for both together.

“We based the date if our wedding on the availability of Tommy and Sons, and we are so glad we did. The band were phenomenal! Everyone danced the night away from the very first song. The guys were so friendly and professional and such a pleasure to have as part of our wedding. We have received so many compliments on just how good, how polished the band were. It absolutely made our day... You guys totally rocked Stourhead, Wiltshire!”
