Pop & Rock Bands in Manchester

Hire a rock and pop covers band in Manchester

A good pop and rock band turns a room of guests into a crowd. In Manchester, these bands are booked for company parties, wedding evenings, milestone birthdays and summer events — anywhere people want to sing along to songs they know, from eighties anthems and Britpop to the latest chart hits.

Whether your event is near Didsbury, the city centre and Salford Quays or elsewhere in Manchester, the bands on this page cover the whole area. Local venues include Great John Street Hotel, The Whitworth and Manchester Hall — if you're still choosing, it's worth checking where a band would set up and whether there's a sound limiter.

Pop and rock covers a lot of ground. Some bands lean towards classic rock and big guitar anthems, others towards indie and Britpop, and some are pure chart-pop party bands with mash-ups and medleys. A few minutes watching their videos will tell you which fits your crowd.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every pop and rock band here travels to Manchester as standard, brings its own PA and lighting, and the quote you receive includes travel — use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £1,000 for a smaller line-up to £3,000 or more for a larger band, depending on date and set times
  • Line-ups from three and four-piece bands to six-piece bands with extra vocalists or keys
  • Two live sets plus a DJ playlist between and after sets as standard with most bands
  • Travel, PA and lighting are included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Check the room size and any sound limiter before you choose. Rock sets can be loud, so a band used to playing at a controlled volume — or one with electronic drums — is worth considering for smaller rooms or venues with strict limits.

A three or four-piece typically starts from around £1,000, while a six-piece with extra vocals or keys can reach £3,000 or more. The date and your set times make a difference too. The price in your quote includes travel, PA and lighting, so it won't change once you've booked.

Rather than a generic demo, each band's page shows the actual line-up you'd be booking, with videos, audio, a song list and client reviews. Between them you'll get a clear sense of the sound and the show well before the day.

Use the instant quote button on this page to see prices and availability for your date. Once you've chosen a band, we handle the contract, the deposit and the arrangements, and stay in touch through to the day. Every booking includes a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and an emergency contact line is available on the day if anything needs sorting quickly.

FAQs

Expect rock classics from Queen, Bon Jovi and Fleetwood Mac, nineties Britpop and indie from Oasis and Blur, noughties anthems from The Killers and Kings of Leon, and current chart pop. Each band's page lists its full repertoire, and most will learn a first-dance or special request with enough notice.

Yes — it's one of the best choices for one. Most sets move through the decades, so older guests get the rock classics and younger guests get the recent hits, and there's always a run of songs everyone knows the words to.

Many can. If your venue has a sound limiter or a smaller room, look for a band that uses electronic drums or in-ear monitoring, and tell us about the limiter when you enquire so we can recommend acts that work within it.

Yes. Bands bring their own PA, lighting and usually a playlist for between sets. They'll need floor space for the line-up and power sockets nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £1,000 for a smaller line-up to £3,000 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians and the date make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two 60-minute or three 40-minute sets during the evening, with a playlist between sets and after the band finishes. Many also offer an extra acoustic set or a later finish if you need it.

“I have put on quite a few events of this kind with different acts and may I say that you demonstrated exemplary standards of management and performance when working together on this occasion. This consistency and reliability has made my job of putting on the show a whole lot easier. As well as the fantastic show , you were all highly presentable and courteous and you were able to accommodate my requests efficiently.”

“Mixtape were the perfect act for our NYE party!
Totally professional with banger after banger.
The music really made for some happy positive vibes the best way to begin 2019.
We did however have one complaint... the dance floor was so full they couldn't get through to dance at the front! (I mean that's the sort of complaint I like #floorfillers) would 100% recommend and hope they come back soon!”

“Baby Ace were absolutely incredible. From start to finish they were professional and engaging. Every single person was up dancing. Huge range of different songs, and they really stood out. Every guest said how great they were and have asked for contact details. They went above and beyond, helping my nephew to also enjoy a guest appearance. If you are unsure, just go ahead and hire them, they absolutely made our night.”

“It's really simple - book Brando and all of your friends will tell you they're the best band they have ever seen. We have booked them half a dozen times for private parties and they get better each party - something you wouldn't believe possible if you've seen them. The secret is their enthusiasm - they party as hard as you do, and don't believe in curfews....you'll never regret booking them.”

“For my 30th I decided I wanted to hire a band, and Third Wheel was recommended to me through a friend. I must admit, I was sceptical hiring a band I?d never heard before, but from the moment they started, I knew I had made the right decision. They really knew how to get the crowd going and their energy was great. They really made my night special”

“We booked Sound System for our daughter's 18th birthday at the Royal Automobile Club and were absolutely delighted. They are a small band who play a great range of music and were very accommodating to our specific requirements. The band worked closely with banqueting at Woodcote Park throughout, leaving me free to enjoy the evening. I would thoroughly recommend them to other organisers of events for all ages.”
