Funk & Soul Bands in the East of England

Book funk and soul bands anywhere in the East of England

From Hertford, Norwich, Colchester, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and Luton, the East of England has a huge choice of venues and a busy calendar of wedding receptions, corporate parties and big birthdays. The funk and soul bands on this page cover the whole region, and many play several dates a month within it.

This region page covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. If you already know which area your venue is in, the links below take you to the page for that area, with venues and acts picked for it.

Venues across the East of England include Fanhams Hall Hotel, Bayfield Hall, Anne of Cleves Barn, The Granary Estates, Trinity Hall and Bellows Mill. It's worth asking yours early about finish times and any sound limiter, as both affect what works on the night.

Across the East of England you can choose from Motown, disco, funk and classic soul line-ups, many with brass. Most will take a few requests ahead of the day, and many can learn a special song if you ask.

Since 1999, Hireaband has matched acts with clients right across the country. The funk and soul bands here all cover the East of England and include PA, lighting and travel in the price. The instant quote button shows pricing and availability for your date in seconds.

At a glance:

  • Most funk and soul bands cost between £1,000 and £3,500
  • PA, lighting and travel are included in the price you're quoted
  • One page covering every area of the East of England
  • Popular acts book up early for busy dates, so enquire soon
  • A 14-day change-of-mind refund comes with every booking

Most acts perform two or three sets, with playlist music or a break in between. Share your running order when you enquire, including any special moments, and we'll build the quote around it.

Smaller line-ups typically start from around £1,000, while bigger acts can reach £3,500 or more. Summer Saturdays and December are the busiest dates. The price in your quote includes PA, lighting and travel, so it won't change once you've booked.

Rather than a generic demo, every act's page shows the actual line-up you'd be booking, with videos, audio and a song list. Underneath are reviews from clients, often at venues you'll recognise.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

The songs cross generations. Motown, disco and soul classics are recognised by almost every guest, so a funk and soul band gets people of all ages onto the dance floor — which is why it's one of the most popular choices for weddings and company parties.

Expect Motown and Stax classics, seventies funk and disco from acts like Chic, Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind & Fire, and soul-pop hits right up to the present day. Each band's page lists its full repertoire, and most will learn a first-dance or special request with enough notice.

If the room and budget allow, yes — saxophone and trumpet are what give funk and soul its punch. For smaller venues, a four or five-piece with strong vocals still delivers the songs well, and some bands can add horns just for the main sets.

Yes. Bands bring their own PA, lighting and usually a DJ playlist for between sets. They'll need floor space for the line-up and power sockets nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue in the East of England, along with any sound limiter.

From around £1,000 for a smaller line-up to £3,500 or more for a large band with horns. The number of musicians and the date make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two 60-minute or three 40-minute sets during the evening, with a playlist between sets and after the band finishes. Many also offer an extra acoustic set or a later finish if you need it.

“Here at the Fox we threw a big party with Hot Piece of Brass as the main attraction. We knew it would be a great night, but we definitely didn't expect the huge turnout they brought with them. The dancefloor was packed all night and the band kept everyone going for hours. They were a pleasure to work with and a great band to get people in the party spirit!””

“Thanks for performing at my birthday party last week, you guys were totally awesome. As you were aware, everybody was up dancing for so much of the night, a few embarrassed friends are still recovering from their behaviour! I had such a fantastic night and it would never have been the same without your band playing. So many friends have asked about you, more business I’m sure.”

“Saw Domino on Saturday and have to say I'd recommend them to anyone! Talented musicians, stunning vocals, professional set up and their love of music is definitely infectious. They had people up dancing from beginning to end and couldn't leave the stage as everyone kept asking for more. Had a brilliant night and can't wait for the next gig. Not to be missed!”

“We booked Soul Sealed Delivered to play at our Christmas Party and we weren't disappointed. They were really professional and easy to deal with in the lead up to the event, and on the night they were fantastic. Their song list was great (not the usual ‘function band’ songs) and they had the dance floor full. We’ll definitely book them again for our next event.”

“‘Hot Piece of Brass was a fantastic addition to our corporate summer festival. Their performance kept the crowd engaged, and they even managed to draw people in from an adjoining room by taking their instruments through the venue and get everyone excited to come and watch them! Their fresh take on well-known songs was a big hit, adding a great vibe to the event. We were really impressed with their talent and energy. 10/10!’”

“We booked Sound System for our daughter's 18th birthday at the Royal Automobile Club and were absolutely delighted. They are a small band who play a great range of music and were very accommodating to our specific requirements. The band worked closely with banqueting at Woodcote Park throughout, leaving me free to enjoy the evening. I would thoroughly recommend them to other organisers of events for all ages.”
