Edinburgh Castle Ceilidh Band

Overview

Edinburgh Castle Ceilidh Band are an Edinburgh ceilidh band of the very highest standard, rated one of the top five ceilidh bands in Scotland by the respected Scotsman newspaper, and we couldn't agree more. This is ceilidh as it's meant to be: lively, energetic tunes performed by top-class musicians with the experience to adapt to whatever an event might throw at them.

Based in the home of ceilidh. The band are based in Scotland's capital, Edinburgh, and perform at weddings, parties and corporate events across the UK and overseas.

Five musicians, including a caller on the dance floor. The line-up is unique, with four musicians on fiddle, accordion, acoustic guitar and bass guitar, and a fifth member who acts as the band's caller. The caller is on the dance floor with your guests all night, explaining and calling the dances for anyone who's new to ceilidh or a little rusty, so you'll never have to scratch your head wondering how to do Strip the Willow.

All the ceilidh favourites. The band's repertoire covers 15 classic ceilidh dances, including the Gay Gordons, the Dashing White Sergeant, the Canadian Barn Dance, the Eightsome Reel, the Highland Schottische, St Bernard's Waltz and Strip the Willow in both its four-couple and Orcadian versions, and they're happy to take requests.

Where they've played. Couples and event organisers have booked Edinburgh Castle Ceilidh Band for weddings and ceilidhs at venues including Rosebery Hall, the National Museum of Scotland, Stockbridge House and Portobello Town Hall, and clients regularly tell us how quickly they filled the dance floor and how lovely they were to deal with.

What's included. A standard performance runs from 8pm to midnight with a 30-minute break, and alternative timings may be available on request, with early arrival available as an option. The band bring their own PA system and stage lighting, hold public liability insurance and use PAT-tested equipment.

We hired Edinburgh Castle Ceilidh Band to play at our wedding reception. They are lovely people to deal with and very accommodating. The musicianship is very high and they certainly know how to fill a dance floor. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Hireaband are also great to deal with and made the whole process very easy. I would happily use them again.

I just wanted to say HUGE thank you for playing at the reception. All delegates had a great time and the client was very happy and even mentioned that is was the first reception they had organised that delegates danced, so well done. We look forward to working with you in the future.

You had us all up dancing, stripping the willow like there was no tomorrow. It was a great occasion and hugely enjoyable.

Please send our thanks to all the band for their contribution to what was a great night ?The feedback has been fantastic. The Ceilidh went down a treat!
