Quorn Grange is a 19th-century house on Wood Lane in Quorn, a handsome village set between Loughborough and Leicester, and it comes with 8 acres of garden that do a great deal for a wedding day. The building has been through the usual English country-house evolutions, from an original wing of oak panelling and stone mullions to later additions with rather more glass, and the result is a hotel that can give you a small candlelit ceremony and a 180-strong party on the same afternoon without either feeling like a compromise.
The Oak Panelled Room is the one people fall for first. It sits in the oldest part of the house, with stone mullion windows, dark honeyed panelling and a large inglenook fireplace, and it takes up to 40 — perfect for a ceremony, or for an intimate wedding breakfast where everyone can hear everyone else. The Goodacre Suite is the larger room, opening through patio doors straight onto the gardens, and it seats up to 100 for a formal breakfast or carries 180 for a relaxed buffet, a barbecue and the evening party. Outside, a pergola in the gardens is licensed for ceremonies, which is a genuine pleasure on a good day and a reliable photograph even on an indifferent one.
The kitchen leans on seasonal and locally sourced produce and will write you something bespoke if the standard menus do not quite fit, while Café 88 handles afternoon tea and the sort of grazing that keeps people going between one thing and the next. There are bedrooms on site, among them the William Morris suite for the wedding night, along with plenty of parking and easy reach of the A6, the A46 and the M1 — which matters more than it sounds when half the guest list is driving in from three counties.

The Goodacre Suite is the room for live music: one wide space with the garden doors running along a side, so a band can set up at the far end and the dancefloor sits naturally in the middle of everything instead of off in an annexe. Those patio doors are a gift at load-in as well, and it is worth asking whether the band can bring gear in that way rather than through the hotel, since it saves a great deal of trolleying past guests. The Oak Panelled Room is far too intimate for a full band, but it makes a beautiful setting for a solo guitarist or a harpist during the ceremony.
How the evening runs
Drinks drift out into the gardens after the ceremony, dinner happens in the Goodacre, and the room turns round for dancing as the light fades over the lawns. Live music here tends to finish at around 11.30pm, a little before the bar and the reception itself wind up, so the sensible shape is two sets with a decent break rather than a late start — and it is worth confirming the exact music finish with the hotel when you book, since the end of the party and the end of the band are not always the same hour.
