Roaming Bands in the East of England

Roaming bands covering the whole of the East of England

The East of England covers a lot of ground, from Luton, Norwich, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Colchester and St Albans. Our roaming bands travel right across the region, so wherever your wedding or event is, you'll find acts on this page who already know the venues, the roads and the local crowds. They're booked for drinks receptions, garden parties and corporate events.

Our listings for the East of England take in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Each of those areas has its own page too, which you'll find in the links further down, but the acts here will travel to any of them.

From Bunkers Barn and Manor Mews to Butley Priory, Madingley Hall, Maidens Barn and North Hill Farm, the venues across the East of England range from grand country houses to barns, hotels and city spaces. Our acts are used to adapting to all of them.

Across the East of England you can choose from acoustic roaming duos and trios, swing and jazz groups and walkabout brass bands that move around the room playing to small groups of guests. Most will take a few requests ahead of the day, and many can learn a special song if you ask.

Since 1999, Hireaband has matched acts with clients right across the country. The roaming bands here all cover the East of England and include travel in the price. The instant quote button shows pricing and availability for your date in seconds.

What to know:

  • Budget £800 to £2,500 for most bookings
  • Every quote includes travel
  • Travel within the East of England is never added on later
  • Many acts offer longer or extra sets if you need them
  • Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Some venues have sound limiters, early finishes or restrictions on where acts can set up. Check these early, as they can decide which line-up is the better fit for your wedding or event.

Most bookings fall between £800 and £2,500. The size of the line-up is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long the act plays. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay, wherever you are in the East of England.

Every act's page has video and audio of the performers who would actually play at your wedding or event, a full song list and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to judge the style before you commit.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

A roaming band plays acoustically while moving around the room or garden, stopping to play to small groups of guests at a time rather than performing from a stage. They're ideal for wedding drinks receptions, garden parties and corporate events where guests are mingling.

Usually not. Most roaming acts play fully acoustic, so they need no stage, PA or power. If they also play a static set with amplification, they'll let you know what they need.

Yes, and many bookings are outdoors. It's worth agreeing a covered spot with the venue in case of rain, and roaming acts can move inside quickly if the weather changes.

From around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two or three sets of 30 to 45 minutes, which covers a typical wedding drinks reception. Longer bookings, or a mix of roaming and static sets, can be arranged when you enquire.

Yes. Many couples book a roaming act for the drinks reception and a separate band or DJ for the evening. We can quote for both together.

“Tommy & Sons we’re absolutely phenomenal - and every one of our guests would agree! (So much so, we have friends desperate to try and hire them for their weddings abroad!) They went above and beyond to learn not just one, but numerous songs, take requests, change their schedule to our order of the day and perform a great DJ set to suit the vibe of the evening. Their outstanding vocals, upbeat nature and friendly personalities were just the cherry on top of the cake! We can’t recommend this band enough for other couples wanting to dance the night away and impress their guests with incredible live music! You won’t be disappointed!”

“Thank you so much for coming and doing such an amazing job for us! So sorry we didn’t get to say bye and thank you as you left, but we really appreciated the amazing job you did. All our guests commented on how fab you were. I hope you weren’t too boiling in that room like the rest of us were!!”

“We got married at The Ned in July and booked The Roaming Romantics to kick off our Champagne reception, we couldn't have asked for a better way to start the celebrations- all the guest were up dancing and singing immediately, just having the BEST time! They are all fantastic musicians and such good fun. Prior to the wedding communication was fantastic, very professional... simply great guys to work with. Don't think about it... Book them! Thank you so much Roaming Romantics for making our day truly memorable.”

“Tommy & Sons were absolutely fabulous. We loved their sets, and so did all our guests. They were genuinely lovely people, and some of our guests were able to get up and sing with them. This was brilliant! Couldn't be happier with our choice to hire Tommy & Sons; comms between hireaband, and the band were excellent and we hope to use them again in the future. Thank you!”

“This band sound amazing! Beautiful acoustic vocals, the balance of a male and female voice worked so well. They sent us their song list before the wedding and we liked it all. They do a great mix of classic and modern songs through the eras to suit everyone. We also asked them to learn some specific songs for us to make an entrance to which they did with no questions and they did them perfectly. We also asked them to move to a different location for the last set which they did so smoothly and we didn’t even notice them moving and re-setting up. They were the perfect addition to our wedding, all our guests loved the music and many guests complimented them! 5/5”

“We couldn't have been more pleased that we picked The Roaming Romantics as our wedding band. Aside from being really talented musicians and incredibly professional in the lead up to the wedding, they were absolutely phenomenal on the day and really got everyone involved. The fact that they moved around was also amazing, as it worked well for a summer's evening when people wanted to be outdoors, as they also got to dance and sing along outside without missing out. I couldn't recommend them enough to anyone looking for a band for an event and so many of our guests are still saying what a great choice they were. We absolutely loved you guys!”
