Roaming Bands in Cardiff

Book a roaming band in Cardiff

When guests are spread across a lawn, a terrace or several rooms, a roaming band keeps the atmosphere going everywhere at once. The band moves from group to group, playing a song or two for each before moving on. Across Cardiff, these acts are a favourite for weddings and summer events, playing acoustic pop, swing, jazz, folk and brass.

Cardiff has a wide choice of wedding and event venues, from Cardiff Castle and Llanerch Vineyard to The Celtic Manor Resort. Our roaming acts travel right across the area, including the city centre, Cardiff Bay and Newport, and can move between spaces as your guests do.

Not every roaming act does the same job. A duo can move quietly between tables and small groups, a trio or four-piece fills a large lawn, and a brass band makes a real entrance. Knowing where your guests will be makes the choice much easier.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every roaming act here travels to Cardiff as standard, brings the equipment it needs, and the quote you receive includes travel. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • The band moves around the room, playing to small groups of guests at a time
  • No stage and usually no power needed
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

A duo is ideal for smaller, conversation-led receptions. For a large wedding or a busy garden party, a four-piece or brass band carries further and makes more of a moment. Tell us the venue and guest numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

A duo or trio typically starts from around £800, while a four-piece or brass band for a longer reception can reach £2,500 or more. The date and your set times make a difference too. The price in your quote includes travel, so it won't change once you've booked.

Every act's page has video and audio of the musicians who would actually play, their repertoire and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to check the style and the atmosphere before you commit.

Use the instant quote button on this page to see prices and availability for your date. Once you've chosen an act, we handle the contract, the deposit and the arrangements, and stay in touch through to the day. Every booking includes a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and an emergency contact line is available on the day if anything needs sorting quickly.

FAQs

A roaming band plays acoustically while moving around the room or garden, stopping to play to small groups of guests at a time rather than performing from a stage. They're ideal for wedding drinks receptions, garden parties and corporate events where guests are mingling.

Usually not. Most roaming acts play fully acoustic, so they need no stage, PA or power. If they also play a static set with amplification, they'll let you know what they need.

Yes, and many bookings are outdoors. It's worth agreeing a covered spot with the venue in case of rain, and roaming acts can move inside quickly if the weather changes.

From around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two or three sets of 30 to 45 minutes, which covers a typical wedding drinks reception. Longer bookings, or a mix of roaming and static sets, can be arranged when you enquire.

Yes. Many couples book a roaming act for the drinks reception and a separate band or DJ for the evening. We can quote for both together.

“Just like to thank you both for your performance last Saturday night in Cirencester. Everyone really loved the music, it was one of the liveliest International meetings I have ever seen, all thanks to your performance.”

“We couldn't be happier with our choice to book the Central Park band for our wedding day. From a logistics standpoint, they were highly professional, organized, and easy to communicate with. As for the performance, they were phenomenal. The unique roaming sets during the drinks reception were a massive hit and set us up perfectly for the rest of the our day. If you are looking for an exceptional entertainment for your wedding day, book Central Park. They are worth every penny!”

“The band were amazing! It was the best choice we made booking Tommy & Sons. They communicated well in the run up to the wedding & when arriving double checked the plan for the evening. Everyone commented how much they enjoyed them. Thanks so much”
