Roaming Bands in Birmingham

Book a roaming band in Birmingham

If you want live music that feels part of the day rather than a performance in the corner, a roaming band is the answer. In Birmingham, our roaming acts are booked for weddings, garden parties, product launches and Christmas events, moving among guests, playing close to small groups and taking requests as they go.

Popular event venues in Birmingham include Birmingham Botanical Gardens, Selly Manor and Castle Bromwich Historic Gardens, and our roaming bands play weddings and events across Sutton Coldfield, the city centre and Edgbaston. Tell us your venue and where guests will gather when you enquire and we'll suggest acts that suit.

Not every roaming act does the same job. A duo can move quietly between tables and small groups, a trio or four-piece fills a large lawn, and a brass band makes a real entrance. Knowing where your guests will be makes the choice much easier.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every roaming act here travels to Birmingham as standard, brings the equipment it needs, and the quote you receive includes travel. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • The band moves around the room, playing to small groups of guests at a time
  • No stage and usually no power needed
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Roaming bands are often booked for outdoor receptions, so agree a covered alternative with your venue. Acoustic acts can move inside in minutes, and most are happy to play in a marquee, a conservatory or a covered terrace.

Most roaming band bookings fall between about £800 and £2,500. The number of musicians is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long they play. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay.

Every act's page has video and audio of the musicians who would actually play, their repertoire and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to check the style and the atmosphere before you commit.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

A roaming band plays acoustically while moving around the room or garden, stopping to play to small groups of guests at a time rather than performing from a stage. They're ideal for wedding drinks receptions, garden parties and corporate events where guests are mingling.

Usually not. Most roaming acts play fully acoustic, so they need no stage, PA or power. If they also play a static set with amplification, they'll let you know what they need.

Yes, and many bookings are outdoors. It's worth agreeing a covered spot with the venue in case of rain, and roaming acts can move inside quickly if the weather changes.

From around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two or three sets of 30 to 45 minutes, which covers a typical wedding drinks reception. Longer bookings, or a mix of roaming and static sets, can be arranged when you enquire.

Yes. Many couples book a roaming act for the drinks reception and a separate band or DJ for the evening. We can quote for both together.

“We saw Tommy & Sons at our friends wedding booked them that night. We had a wide range of ages attending our big day so we asked Tommy & Sons to cater for that. The boys were lovely gentlemen who covered so many genres and decades that everybody loved. We also had a lovely rendition of Baby, I'm Yours as our first dance that the band played as we danced. Its quite magic having a live band playing for you! we Highly recommend this band! The kids also loved the One direction songs they added in on request! :)”

“I hired The Roaming Romantics to play at my wedding last year - They were amazing and got everyone (which was a fairly international crowd) on the dancefloor in no time! We picked our songs and they came up with the rest. They were also really friendly and smiley with all of our guests - I highly recommend these guys.”

“Tommy & Sons performed at our wedding on the hottest day of the year (38 degrees!). They were professional throughout and so friendly. Due to the heat, most people were outside so were missing all the music, but the band happily set up outside instead and it turned the atmosphere into a much more relaxed, live music vibe rather than a wedding party, which was just what we were aiming for! The music was fantastic and we would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting live music at their event!”

“What a FANTASTIC evening. We felt as if they were singing directly to us, and made to feel very special! We cannot wait to book these girls again. Thank you so much to the Busking Beauties for making our event so memorable.”
