Jazz Bands in Yorkshire & the Humber

Find jazz bands for your wedding or event in Yorkshire & the Humber

Yorkshire & the Humber covers a lot of ground, from Leeds, Acomb, Scarborough, Doncaster and Hull. Our jazz bands travel right across the region, so wherever your wedding or event is, you'll find acts on this page who already know the venues, the roads and the local crowds. They're booked for drinks receptions, dinners and evening parties.

Across Hull & East Yorkshire, Leeds & West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, Sheffield & South Yorkshire and York, the jazz bands listed here play drinks receptions, dinners and evening parties. Use the area links lower down if you'd like a list narrowed to one part of Yorkshire & the Humber.

Popular venues across the region include The Mansion, Hotel du Vin York, Middleton Lodge, Cutlers' Hall, Hull Guildhall and Waterton Park Hotel. Tell us your venue when you enquire and we can usually say which acts have played there before.

The category covers jazz trios, swing and big-band line-ups, New Orleans groups and jazz singers. Their pages show exactly what each one plays, so you can match the act to your guests and your venue.

Hireaband has been booking live entertainment since 1999. Every band listed here covers Yorkshire & the Humber, and PA, lighting and travel are included in the quote you receive. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: £500 to £2,500, depending on line-up, date and how long the act plays
  • Always included: PA, lighting and travel, in every quote
  • Acts travel to venues right across Yorkshire & the Humber
  • Summer Saturdays and December dates book up first
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Yorkshire & the Humber is a large area, so it's worth mentioning your venue's exact location when you enquire. Acts based nearby often have more availability and more experience of local venues, and we'll point you towards them.

Smaller line-ups typically start from around £500, while bigger acts can reach £2,500 or more. Summer Saturdays and December are the busiest dates. The price in your quote includes PA, lighting and travel, so it won't change once you've booked.

Rather than a generic demo, every act's page shows the actual line-up you'd be booking, with videos, audio and a song list. Underneath are reviews from clients, often at venues you'll recognise.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

Jazz works particularly well for wedding drinks receptions, corporate dinners, awards evenings, garden parties and milestone celebrations — anywhere you want live music that adds atmosphere without stopping conversation. Many acts can also play a livelier swing set later for dancing.

Yes. Most jazz acts are used to playing at a volume that lets guests talk comfortably, especially duos and trios. Tell the band the room and the purpose of each set, and they'll pitch the volume and repertoire to suit.

A trio is usually piano or guitar, double bass and vocals or a lead instrument — ideal for receptions and dinners. A quartet or quintet adds drums and often saxophone or trumpet for a fuller sound, and a larger band gives you the energy for a dance floor.

A duo or trio needs very little: a small corner of the room and, in some cases, a single power socket. Larger bands with drums and amplification need more floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking with your venue in Yorkshire & the Humber before booking.

From around £500 for a jazz duo to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The line-up, how long they play and the date make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Yes. Each act lists its repertoire, and most are happy to learn a special request with enough notice. If you have a style in mind — standards, gypsy jazz, bossa nova or swing — choose an act that specialises in it.

“We booked this band for a charity event. From first contact they were very positive and understanding of the type of evening we wanted, and they delivered exactly as promised. They play a lovely mix of music and are obviously very talented musicians. They offer a sophisticated repertoire of swing era music and we would highly recommend them for this type of occasion. They are also a very nice group of people.”

“Thanks again guys! We weren’t sure at first whether to hire a band but we were so pleased with our decision. You really helped create the atmosphere we were looking for. We’d definitely look to book you again in future”

“Dear Mike, I know I thanked you on the night but just wanted to do so again in the cold light of day. You and your band were fantastic, not just brilliant at the music but also lovely, helpful and a total pleasure to work with.
Thank you so much and please pass my thanks on to your team.
My Mother literally had the party of her life and you were a big part of that.... you were exceptional.”

“We book Fascinating Rhythm regularly at Brasserie Zedel to provide background jazz for our
diners. We also have them playing as the main event at our late night shows at The Crazy Coqs.
The band are a pleasure to work with and always go down a storm with our guests!”

“The Cannonballs are a highly professional, talented, and affordable option for those of us where the budget needs to be that little bit lower than that of a larger function band. On the night we used 3 of the musicians - but the sound, experience and impact created by these three gents was far from small. Charismatic, flexible and just brilliant musicians who made the event memorably good. The feedback from those who came along to the event was phenomenal. I cannot recommend them enough, and I’m looking forward to working with them again as soon as possible.”

“I'm just writing to you and the rest of the band on behalf of all my family and friends to say a massive thank you for the most amazing night we've had in a long while! People had travelled from quite a distance to come to the party and they were not let down - the atmosphere was electric and that's all thanks to you guys! It will not be forgotten in a hurry! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect night! Thanks again!”
