Irish Bands in Wales

Book Irish bands anywhere in Wales

Finding the right Irish band is easier when you can see every option in one place. This page covers all of Wales, from Swansea Marina, Llandudno and Penarth, and every act listed travels to venues across the region for weddings, St Patrick's Day parties and family celebrations.

Across Cardiff, North Wales and Swansea, the Irish bands listed here play weddings, St Patrick's Day parties and family celebrations. Use the area links lower down if you'd like a list narrowed to one part of Wales.

From King Arthur Hotel and Chateau Rhianfa to De Courceys Manor, Morgans Hotel, Plas Dinas Country House and Llanerch Vineyard, the venues across Wales range from grand country houses to barns, hotels and city spaces. Our acts are used to adapting to all of them.

Across Wales you can choose from traditional trad and céilí bands, Irish party bands and Irish singers. Most will take a few requests ahead of the day, and many can learn a special song if you ask.

Since 1999, Hireaband has matched acts with clients right across the country. The Irish bands here all cover Wales and include PA, lighting and travel in the price. The instant quote button shows pricing and availability for your date in seconds.

At a glance:

  • Most Irish bands cost between £600 and £2,500
  • PA, lighting and travel are included in the price you're quoted
  • One page covering every area of Wales
  • Popular acts book up early for busy dates, so enquire soon
  • A 14-day change-of-mind refund comes with every booking

Wales is a large area, so it's worth mentioning your venue's exact location when you enquire. Acts based nearby often have more availability and more experience of local venues, and we'll point you towards them.

Most bookings fall between £600 and £2,500. The size of the line-up is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long the act plays. PA, lighting and travel are included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay, wherever you are in Wales.

Every act's page has video and audio of the performers who would actually play at your wedding or event, a full song list and written reviews from people who have booked them. It's the easiest way to judge the style before you commit.

Use the instant quote button on this page to see prices and availability for your date. Once you've chosen an act, we handle the contract, the deposit and the arrangements, and stay in touch through to the day. Every booking includes a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and an emergency contact line is available on the day if anything needs sorting quickly.

FAQs

The category covers traditional trad groups, céilí bands with a caller, Irish folk and ballad singers, and Celtic rock and Irish party bands that also play modern covers. Each act's page shows its style, line-up and song list.

Yes. Céilí bands come with a caller who explains each dance and walks guests through the steps, so nobody needs to know them in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room dancing together.

Most do. Full bands bring their own PA and lighting; acoustic duos and trios need very little. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most acts are happy to learn a special request with enough notice, whether that's a traditional air for the ceremony, a ballad for the first dance or a family favourite. Mention it when you enquire.

As early as you can. St Patrick's weekend is the busiest time of year for Irish acts, and the best bands are often booked months ahead. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.

“Hickory Smoke were amazing and fantastic value for money. They really read the vibe of the room, switching between traditional ceilidh songs and more well-known covers, including songs that we had requested. Our guests were definitely not the best at following dance routines (especially after a few drinks)...but they handled it like pros! It was great entertainment - unique, inclusive, and our guests loved it. Thank you!!”

“The Flying Finns music was irresistibly danceable. Their energetic and extremely skilled performance created a highly festive air. Their interpretations of folk music were as original as it was entertaining. I would not hesitate in recommending this hugely professional band”

“Dear Padraig Words cannot express how wonderful you were, at the celebration we had for my mum's passing, at Greenwoods recently. So many relatives asked whether you actually knew mum, as you had made it so personal, they were, as you could probably tell, really enjoying themselves! I could not have wished for a more fitting tribute to my mum, just sad that you couldn't meet her as she would have been your biggest fan that night! With sincere thanks.”

“The band were amazing, really talented and great at getting people up to dance and keeping them going throughout the night. They were able to accommodate our request for a Hora, learned our first dance song and were just the best!”

“Excellent communication from Del and the team. Declan was brilliant. Very professional musician with a lovely voice. Played a great variation of songs to suit all age groups of the party. Excellent value for money. Stairway to Heaven was incredible! Will book again in the future and highly recommend Declan and the company to everyone.”

“The Scene did an amazing job. We go to see a lot of live music, but The Scene really stood out for us, they were the perfect choice for our wedding.”
