Irish Bands in Middlesbrough

Irish folk, ceilidh and trad bands for events in Middlesbrough

Few acts get a room joining in like an Irish band. Across Middlesbrough, these bands play traditional jigs and reels, Irish ballads, céilí dances and rousing folk-rock covers, and they're a favourite for weddings, family parties and St Patrick's celebrations.

Across Middlesbrough, Irish bands are booked for events in and around Yarm, Guisborough and Redcar. Venues in the area include Rushpool Hall, Middlesbrough Town Hall and Solberge Hall, all with room for a céilí floor or an acoustic session during the drinks.

Within this category you'll find traditional Irish groups, céilí and folk bands, Irish singers and duos, and Celtic rock bands. Many can play a gentle set early on and a full party set later, and their song lists show exactly what they cover.

Since 1999, Hireaband has matched live bands with events of every size. The Irish acts listed here all travel to Middlesbrough, include travel in the price, and arrive with their own sound set-up where it's needed. The instant quote button shows pricing and availability for your date in seconds.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • Traditional trad, céilí, Irish folk, ballads and Celtic rock
  • Sets for a drinks reception, a céilí evening or a full party night
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

A solo singer or duo suits a pub-style night or a small gathering. For a wedding or a big party, a four or five-piece band with fiddle and banjo fills the room properly. Tell us the venue and guest numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Most Irish music bookings fall between about £600 and £2,500. The number of musicians is the biggest factor, followed by the date and how long they play, and St Patrick's weekend books up early. Travel is included in the quote, so the figure you're given is the figure you pay.

Each Irish act's page carries real video, audio, a song list and reviews from previous clients. A couple of clips will tell you far more about how a band works a room than any description can.

Use the instant quote button on this page to see prices and availability for your date. Once you've chosen an act, we handle the contract, the deposit and the arrangements, and stay in touch through to the day. Every booking includes a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and an emergency contact line is available on the day if anything needs sorting quickly.

FAQs

The category covers traditional trad groups, céilí bands with a caller, Irish folk and ballad singers, and Celtic rock and Irish party bands that also play modern covers. Each act's page shows its style, line-up and song list.

Yes. Céilí bands come with a caller who explains each dance and walks guests through the steps, so nobody needs to know them in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room dancing together.

Most do. Full bands bring their own PA and lighting; acoustic duos and trios need very little. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most acts are happy to learn a special request with enough notice, whether that's a traditional air for the ceremony, a ballad for the first dance or a family favourite. Mention it when you enquire.

As early as you can. St Patrick's weekend is the busiest time of year for Irish acts, and the best bands are often booked months ahead. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.

“We just wanted to say a big thank you to you and the rest of the band for Friday night. You were all absolutely amazing and really created an unbelievable atmosphere and crowned what was the most perfect day for the both of us. So many guests have commented to us how brilliant you all were!”

“These guys were great. Both myself, my husband and all of our guests would highly recommend this band. Not only were they lovely people but they got everyone up and dancing with a great sense of humour. The communication before the wedding in choosing a first dance and any songs we particularly wanted was very good with Paul, and even when we changed our mind on the songs a day before the wedding it wasn't an issue. The music was great, upbeat and foot stomping! Just what you want to get a crowd on their feet!”

“The Flying Finns played at our wedding recently in Lichfield, they had travelled up from London especially. We were really impressed with their set and talent. I would highly recommend for an occasion. All our guests commented on how fantastic they sounded. So happy we booked them.”

“Can you please pass on our thanks to the band for Saturday. It was a great night of music and the party got started right from their first song. We had so many people coming up to us complementing the band. Thanks once again!”

“Now that the dust has settled after the wedding I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you and the lads for putting on such a really great night for us. We have had so many people say to us what a great night it was and the music was rocking. If there is a website you would like me to add a testimonial on I'd be only too happy. Have a good Christmas!”
