Irish Bands in Cheshire

Hire a live Irish band in Cheshire

Irish music works for almost any crowd. In Cheshire, Irish bands are booked to celebrate family roots at weddings, to lead a céilí at a party, to fill a marquee on St Patrick's weekend or simply to give a birthday the feel of a great night in a Dublin bar.

Whether your event is near Wilmslow, Nantwich and Chester or elsewhere in Cheshire, the acts on this page cover the whole area. Local venues include Styal Lodge, Arley Hall & Gardens and Combermere Abbey. If you're planning a céilí, it's worth checking the size of the dance floor with the venue early on.

Not every Irish act does the same job. A trad trio is perfect for a drinks reception or dinner, a céilí band runs the evening as a participation dance, and an Irish party band mixes ballads and folk-rock with modern covers to keep the dance floor full.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every Irish act here travels to Cheshire as standard, brings the equipment it needs, and the quote you receive includes travel. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • Traditional trad, céilí, Irish folk, ballads and Celtic rock
  • Sets for a drinks reception, a céilí evening or a full party night
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

A solo singer or duo suits a pub-style night or a small gathering. For a wedding or a big party, a four or five-piece band with fiddle and banjo fills the room properly. Tell us the venue and guest numbers and we'll suggest what tends to work.

Expect to pay from around £600 for a solo singer or duo up to £2,500 or more for a full band. Line-up size matters most, then the date and extras such as a céilí caller or a longer set. Every quote includes travel, so nothing is added later.

Rather than a generic demo, each act's page shows the actual line-up you'd be booking, with videos, audio, a song list and client reviews. Between them you'll get a clear sense of the sound and the show well before the day.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

The category covers traditional trad groups, céilí bands with a caller, Irish folk and ballad singers, and Celtic rock and Irish party bands that also play modern covers. Each act's page shows its style, line-up and song list.

Yes. Céilí bands come with a caller who explains each dance and walks guests through the steps, so nobody needs to know them in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room dancing together.

Most do. Full bands bring their own PA and lighting; acoustic duos and trios need very little. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most acts are happy to learn a special request with enough notice, whether that's a traditional air for the ceremony, a ballad for the first dance or a family favourite. Mention it when you enquire.

As early as you can. St Patrick's weekend is the busiest time of year for Irish acts, and the best bands are often booked months ahead. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.

“A great choice of a very talented musician. Guitar and vocals followed by the Harp. Tourists on the beach stopped to film Declan and all the guests commented on his performance. would highly recommend.”

“Declan was fantastic, he kept our guests more than entertained while we were having our pictures taken, many of our guests complimented our choice of entertainment. He played the harp and also the guitar and sang, what a talent. We highly recommend Declan.”

“Just a quick message to let you know that Declan has been amazing throughout, very helpful in offering song choices etc., and down to earth and courteous during all conversations. His performances on the day, both on the harp, and singing and playing guitar were outstanding, as I always knew they would be. Thanks ever so much!”

“Hi. We would like to record our appreciation to Declan Daniel for the music he played at our wedding reception last Saturday. Many of the guests commented on the quality of his playing and there is no doubt that Declan's music added a very special ingredient to our special day. Please pass on our thanks and best wishes for his musical career. Many thanks also for a very efficient service. Best wishes”

“We had a great day, very much helped by great performances from both Declan and Star Club. We met with Declan before the wedding and he helped us to choose some great music for the ceremony, which gave it a particularly personal feel. Star Club were excellent for the entire evening; such a huge range of great songs that got everyone up dancing. Sweet guitar too :-) Thanks also to all the staff at Hire-a-Band for their help. We will be recommending you to anyone looking to book acts for any occasion. Many thanks.”
