Horns are what make funk and soul sound like the records. A band with saxophone and trumpet, or a full three-piece section, gives the biggest sound and suits a large function room. For smaller venues or tighter budgets, a four or five-piece with a strong singer still delivers the songs with plenty of energy.
Most funk and soul bookings fall between about £1,000 and £3,500. The number of musicians is the biggest factor, especially horns and extra singers, followed by the date — Saturdays in summer and December are the busiest.
