Wedding Band Booking Process: A Step-by-Step Guide

Wedding Band Booking Process A Step by Step Guide v2

If you've never booked a live band before, that's completely normal — most couples haven't, and it's not something anyone expects you to already know how to do. Here's the whole process, laid out simply, so there are no surprises between your first enquiry and the moment your band strikes up on the night.

Step one: start earlier than you think

Popular dates — weekends, especially through the summer — can book up over a year in advance. That doesn't mean it's too late if your wedding is closer than that; bands with a gap in their diary can still make it work at short notice. But the earlier you start looking, the wider your choice of acts.

Step two: get a real price, not a guess

Rather than trying to work out an average cost yourself, an instant quote for your specific band, date, and venue gives you an accurate number in moments, followed by a confirmation email. If the band's available and the price works, the next step is simply getting back in touch to secure the date — it's first come, first served, so a band that's genuinely available won't necessarily stay that way.

Step three: securing your date

A reservation fee holds your date, with the remaining balance due before the wedding — the exact dates and amounts are always laid out clearly in your booking confirmation, so there's nothing to chase down later.

Step four: the details come later, and that's fine

You don't need to have every detail nailed down at the point of booking. Around three months before your date, you'll be put in direct touch with the band themselves to talk through song choices, timings, and anything else specific to your day. In the meantime, if plans shift — and for most couples, they do — that's completely normal and easy to accommodate.

Step five: the day itself

By the time your wedding day arrives, the band already knows your timings, your must-plays, and anything you've asked them to avoid. All that's left is for them to turn up, set up, and get on with the job of keeping your dancefloor full!
