Town Head Estate's Wedding Barn sits right on the shore of Windermere — a traditional stone bank barn with exposed stone walls and oak beams, updated with underfloor heating, built-in lighting and a proper sound system, giving it lake views most venues in this part of the country can't match.
Where the band plays
The upper floor is the main event space, seating up to 120 for both the ceremony and the wedding breakfast in one open, naturally-lit room — plenty of space for a band once the tables are cleared and the dancefloor opens up. Downstairs there's a separate bar and lounge for guests to spread into earlier in the day, and outside a landscaped terrace with its own bandstand and a converted gin bar looking out over the lake — a genuinely good spot for drinks and photographs before the evening moves back inside. Built-in lighting, speakers and a PA system mean the technical side is already there to work with.
How the day flows
Most days here follow the natural shape of the barn: ceremony and wedding breakfast upstairs in the open, light-filled room, then drinks and photographs out on the terrace by the water while tables are cleared, before everyone moves back upstairs as the room turns from dining to dancing. The lake views mean couples tend to time the ceremony and terrace drinks for the best light, so the band's load-in and soundcheck usually happens quietly in the background while guests are still out on the terrace — ready to go the moment the dancefloor opens.
