The Out Barn sits within a 360-acre private, family-owned estate near Lancaster — a 17th-century stone hay barn joined to a modern cedar-clad oval extension, with the original oak beams and floors kept alongside a contemporary space built for open countryside views.
Where the band plays
The barn takes 150 for the ceremony and wedding breakfast, growing to 250 for the evening party, with a rustic bar lounge and a south-facing terrace with fire pits for guests to spill out onto once the sun's down. That's a proper-sized room for a full band and dancefloor, and the late licence means the evening can run on properly rather than being cut short. There's additional outdoor space for a marquee or tipi if you want to extend beyond the barn itself, and the estate's own in-house bar service means we're working alongside a team who know how a wedding evening here is supposed to run.
How the day flows
From late June the ceremony backdrop is wildflowers, and the estate's countryside setting gives plenty of space for photographs between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast without anyone needing to leave the grounds. The couple traditionally get use of the Old Dairy Cottage nearby to get ready in and stay over. As the barn turns from dining to dancing, the terrace and fire pits give guests somewhere to gather while the room's reset — and that's usually when the band gets the chance to set up and soundcheck before opening the evening once everyone's back inside.
