The Borough is a well-loved gastropub right on Dalton Square in the middle of Lancaster, with a Georgian Drawing Room — small, boutique and dressed properly for a wedding — that's been licensed for ceremonies since 2017.
Where the band plays
This is a genuinely intimate venue: daytime ceremony numbers cap at 40, with the evening reception growing to around 60 as more guests join for the party. It suits a smaller, informal celebration rather than a big band production — we'd usually bring a duo or trio here rather than a full line-up, working within the Drawing Room's footprint once the evening buffet's been served and the room's turned over. Being on Dalton Square, it's an easy central load-in for us, and being a working pub the team are set up for evening service and turnover as standard.
How the day flows
Couples who choose The Borough tend to want their day to feel relaxed and personal rather than grand — a small guest list, a proper meal, drinks in a room with character, and a first dance that doesn't need acres of dancefloor to feel like a party. It's a genuinely central spot for photographs too, with Dalton Square right outside and Lancaster Castle and Williamson Park both a short walk away. Once the meal's cleared and the evening buffet's out for the wider guest list, that's when we come in and keep the room going until last orders.
