St Mary's Guildhall has stood in Coventry's Cathedral Quarter since the 14th century, a few minutes' walk from the cathedral ruins and the spire of Holy Trinity. It's one of the best-preserved medieval guildhalls in the country, and the Great Hall shows why: soaring stone arches, a run of stained glass windows, and the Coventry Tapestry hanging at one end, a piece with its own five-hundred-year history in the building.
Weddings use several of the Guildhall's rooms across a day rather than just one. The Undercroft, roughly 700 years old itself, is the usual setting for the wedding breakfast; the newer Muniment Room is licensed for ceremonies; and the old Medieval Kitchen works well for arrival drinks before guests move through to dinner. Catering is run in-house by the Guildhall's own restaurant team.

The Undercroft's stone walls and vaulted ceiling change how a room sounds compared with a standard hotel function space — worth a conversation with your band in advance about levels and set-up. There's no published word from the venue on a sound limiter or a fixed finish time for live music, so it's worth confirming both directly when you book. How the day flows
Most couples marry in the Muniment Room or bring a ceremony from elsewhere in the city and use the Guildhall purely for the reception. Drinks in the Medieval Kitchen or the courtyard lead into a wedding breakfast in the Undercroft, and the evening's music and dancing can move through to the Great Hall itself, with the Tapestry looking on — not a backdrop many other venues in the Midlands can offer.
