Park Farm sits at Upper Shuckburgh, right on the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire border a few miles from Daventry, in a rolling landscape that has barely been rearranged since the Middle Ages. The wedding building is an 18th-century barn known as the Cart Shed, restored with a light hand so that it still reads as a farm building rather than a function room — honest timber, honest stone, and very little standing between you and the fields.
Tim and Jill, who run it, hand over the whole farm: exclusive use of the site, room for 200, and a blank canvas they are perfectly happy for you to fill however you like. There are paddocks to wander into and fire pits to gather around when the temperature drops. Catering is done in-house, from a sit-down meal to a hog roast or a barbecue, and there is a genuinely charming spread of places to sleep — two luxury en-suite bedrooms in the farmhouse, a bespoke 16-foot shepherd’s hut and a bell tent, with space for guests to pitch their own or bring in yurts.
Two things to plan around. Park Farm is a summer venue, open for weddings between May and October, so the calendar is shorter than most. And it is set up for celebrant-led and humanist ceremonies and for vows outdoors rather than a licensed civil ceremony indoors, with the little church at Upper Shuckburgh a couple of minutes away should you want a blessing. Both are worth pinning down on your first visit.
Where the band plays
The Cart Shed is a barn, which is to say the acoustics are lively and the atmosphere is instant. There is a dance floor and live music is expressly welcome, and because the site is entirely yours there is no other event to work around when a band wants to get in early and set up properly. Rural farm venues do reward a bit of forward planning, so tell your band what surface they will be carrying gear across and check what power supply is available at the barn well before the day.
How the evening runs
Summer evenings are the whole point of this place. Drinks happen outside, dinner runs long, and people wander between the fire pits and the barn rather than sitting still, so a band inherits a crowd that is already thoroughly loosened up by the time the first downbeat lands. Evenings typically run to around midnight, and with bedrooms, a shepherd’s hut and tents scattered across the farm there is no mass exodus to break the mood — guests simply walk home across a field.
