Middlesbrough Town Hall has stood on Albert Road since 1889, a Gothic Revival landmark with a clock tower that has watched over the town centre for well over a century. Rather than sitting empty outside civic business, it runs its own weddings and receptions programme, and the range on offer inside is bigger than most couples expect from a town hall: an intimate ceremony for around a hundred guests in one room, or a reception for several hundred in another, all under the same Victorian roof.
The Courtroom is licensed for ceremonies and holds around 110 guests, a formal room with the gravity you'd expect of its name. For the reception, couples can choose between the more intimate Old Fire Station, holding around 80, the atmospheric Crypt at up to 250, or the Main Hall itself — the grandest of the four, with capacity for around 350 — depending on the size of the day.
