Tucked into the folds of south Northamptonshire at Eydon, within easy reach of Daventry and of both the M40 and the M1, Crockwell Farm has been in the wedding business since 2002, when the family began the painstaking restoration of the vaulted stone barn that still anchors the place. What started with that single building has grown outwards ever since, and grown sensibly rather than loudly: a rustic bar and a breakfast room arrived in 2020, and in 2025 the 18th-century farmhouse was redecorated to give couples more room to spread out and more beds to fill.
It is still a farm, and that matters. The land runs to 400 acres of wildflowers and grasses left largely to their own devices, and the gardens have been planted to hold their colour through the year, peaking gloriously between June and October. Ceremonies take place either in the pretty vaulted barn or outdoors at the orchard pavilion, and the starlit marquee, with panoramic windows pulling the countryside indoors, carries the day from the wedding breakfast through to the last dance. Eleven bedrooms are divided between two converted ironstone cottages and the farmhouse itself, where your party has the run of a family kitchen and breakfast stretches out over both mornings.
Food is in the hands of Ross & Ross Events, local caterers who sit down with each couple and build the menus from scratch, and the whole site is yours for three days — set-up from 2pm the day before, the wedding itself, then a slow morning after. Crockwell is accredited by the Sustainable Wedding Alliance, which fits the character of the place entirely.
Where the band plays
Dancing happens in the starlit marquee, and the room has been thought through with real care. The dance floor stays concealed during the wedding breakfast and has its own entrance, so a band can load in, set up and soundcheck while everyone is still at the tables, and the reveal lands properly. There is no sound limiter for bands or DJs, which is rarer than you might think and means a five- or six-piece can play at the volume the room actually wants. The house Sonos system covers the ceremony and the main marquee for daytime playlists, but deliberately not the dance floor — that end of the night is left entirely to whoever you book.
How the evening runs
Because so many of your guests are sleeping in the cottages and the farmhouse, there is no awkward lull between the meal and the music and no fleet of taxis waiting to break the spell. Live music finishes at midnight and the bar stays open until 12.30am, which gives a band a proper run at a full room and then leaves everybody a last half-hour to stand about in the yard agreeing it was the best day. A dense, unhurried crowd at the end of the night is the single best thing you can hand a band, and Crockwell tends to deliver one.
