Roaming Bands in Hull & East Yorkshire

Acoustic roaming bands for weddings and parties in Hull & East Yorkshire

Roaming bands are one of the easiest ways to lift a wedding reception. Acts across Hull & East Yorkshire need no stage and usually no power, so they can start as soon as guests arrive, follow them from the ceremony to the drinks and move around the room playing to small groups while everyone mingles.

Popular event venues in Hull & East Yorkshire include Burton Constable Hall, Rise Hall and Carlton Towers, and our roaming bands play weddings and events across Bridlington, Driffield and Hull. Tell us your venue and where guests will gather when you enquire and we'll suggest acts that suit.

Roaming bands come in many styles. Some play acoustic versions of pop and chart hits, some play vintage swing and jazz, and others bring brass, folk or a New Orleans street-band feel. Watching a couple of videos is the quickest way to find the one that fits your day.

We've been booking live bands since 1999, and every roaming act on this page covers Hull & East Yorkshire. Travel is built into the quote, the band brings what it needs to be heard, and you can check your date and price straight away with the instant quote button.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • The band moves around the room, playing to small groups of guests at a time
  • No stage and usually no power needed
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

Most roaming acts play in sets of 30 to 45 minutes. Rather than staying in one place, they move around the room, stop with a group of guests for a song or two, then move on to the next. Many can also play a static set during a meal or on a terrace, so mention it if you'd like both.

A duo or trio typically starts from around £800, while a four-piece or brass band for a longer reception can reach £2,500 or more. The date and your set times make a difference too. The price in your quote includes travel, so it won't change once you've booked.

Rather than a generic demo, each act's page shows the actual line-up you'd be booking, with videos, audio, a song list and client reviews. Between them you'll get a clear sense of the sound and the show well before the day.

Enter your date and venue in the instant quote button for live pricing and availability. After you book, we look after the contract, deposit and details, and keep in touch right up to the event. You also get a 14-day change-of-mind refund and an emergency contact number to use on the day.

FAQs

A roaming band plays acoustically while moving around the room or garden, stopping to play to small groups of guests at a time rather than performing from a stage. They're ideal for wedding drinks receptions, garden parties and corporate events where guests are mingling.

Usually not. Most roaming acts play fully acoustic, so they need no stage, PA or power. If they also play a static set with amplification, they'll let you know what they need.

Yes, and many bookings are outdoors. It's worth agreeing a covered spot with the venue in case of rain, and roaming acts can move inside quickly if the weather changes.

From around £800 for a smaller act to £2,500 or more for a larger band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most play two or three sets of 30 to 45 minutes, which covers a typical wedding drinks reception. Longer bookings, or a mix of roaming and static sets, can be arranged when you enquire.

Yes. Many couples book a roaming act for the drinks reception and a separate band or DJ for the evening. We can quote for both together.

“Tommy & Sons = AMAZING! They are worth every penny. We chose them for our wedding and were not disappointed. Aside from being prompt and having great communication with Hireaband throughout, the band were so friendly and their music was so superb that the dance floor was never empty. So many comments from guests saying how good they were, I almost wish we were getting married again to have them back! Would highly recommend and will definitely have them for any parties in the near future. Thank you again, it made our wedding.”

“Wonderful band and such fun, had the crowd singing and enjoying themselves. We would have loved to have more. Throughout the wedding plans Zack was really responsive to queries, exceptionally professional. Would certainly book again”

“My wife and I cannot speak highly enough of Tommy & Sons. Their performance at our wedding was the perfect balance of indie swagger and crow pleasing favourites. The band themselves are friendly and relaxed. The inclusion of a handful of pop-punk anthems was greatly appreciated by many of the guests old enough to know better.”

“The band were absolutely fantastic and kept everyone dancing throughout the night. They were very friendly and were great when the groom joined in the singing. Great guys and great musicians.”

“From first contact through to booking the band Irving at hireaband was excellent, really patient and willing to give us advice on different bands to suit our taste. Tommy & Sons were outstanding! They were playing my dad’s wake for us which could have been a sombre affair but they got the place bouncing and the dance floor filled straight away. They were even willing to do a couple of non playlist songs for us that everyone loved. Everyone in attendance agreed that Tommy & Sons turned it into the send off he would have wanted. Thanks again”
