Mean Themes

Mean Themes boldly goes where no band has gone before, playing the sexiest film and TV themes from the 60’s to the present day in their own inimitable way.

A heady mix of some of the best session musicians in the country: a full five piece rhythm section; six butt-kicking horns; one top female vocalist and two backing singers. Clothed in the cool of Miami Vice and oozing the comic charisma of 007 himself, they take to the stage to perform epic movie themes such as Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Footloose, James Bond and Rocky as well as some of the most memorable foot-tapping TV hits of the period.

Mean Themes

Working with Mean Themes was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we first contacted them about the possibility of them performing at our wedding right through to the performance itself, we were given a first class service.

During the build up to the big day, they worked their hardest to ensure that every tiny detail was covered off with the timings, the venue and the setlist itself. When you are getting married or putting on an event this is so important as you have so many things you need to cover and Mean Themes were incredibly proactive in helping us with this.

The performance itself blew our and our guests’ minds. They were FANTASTIC! None of our guests had experienced anything like this at a wedding and everyone commented on just how good musicians they were. With many of our guests being professional west end musicians anyway, this was high praise indeed. Who wants to dance to the goddamn awful lazy song “Just want to dance the night away” by The Mavericks when you could be throwing some serious funky shapes to the big band themes from James Bond, Back to the Future, Stingray and even Grandstand.

Thank you so much Mean Themes for giving everything we wanted and more

Mean Themes

Mean Themes one of those bands that just oozes class. The unique themes that they play and the quality of musicianship is something that sets them apart from any other band on the market, and something that our clients relish. If you are in need of something different that has a huge wow factor then this is the band for you. The level of quality and professionalism is second to none and puts Mean Themes amongst a select few bands that are simply the best in the country.

Mean Themes

I cannot recommend ‘Mean Themes’ highly enough, especially if you are looking for more than ‘just a band’ for your function.

Given the calibre of the musicians who make up the band, it goes without saying that the standard of playing was incredible – what a sound! The choice of music was inspired and varied. But it was the sheer entertainment value that made ‘Mean Themes’ a cut above the rest. This was pure cabaret and everyone at the party was won over by this slick, stylish, show-stopping band. By the end of the second set, not one guest was still in their seat because, after playing (and singing) two sets worth of the best TV and Film themes from the past 40 years, they played a great dance set too.

This was fabulous fun from a unique, classy act and well worth the cost. To quote from the Stella Artois Ad: ‘reassuringly expensive!
