Irish Bands in Lancaster

Irish folk, ceilidh and trad bands for events in Lancaster

An Irish band turns any celebration into a proper session. In Lancaster, Irish acts are booked for weddings, St Patrick's Day parties, milestone birthdays, pub-style nights and corporate events, bringing fiddle, whistle, banjo and bodhrán along with the songs everyone knows the words to.

Lancaster has a wide choice of event venues, from Lancaster Town Hall and Town Head Estate to Ashton Memorial, Williamson Park. Our Irish acts travel right across the area, including Morecambe, Carnforth and Lancaster, so a proper Irish night is never far away.

Not every Irish act does the same job. A trad trio is perfect for a drinks reception or dinner, a céilí band runs the evening as a participation dance, and an Irish party band mixes ballads and folk-rock with modern covers to keep the dance floor full.

Hireaband has been booking live music since 1999. Every Irish act here travels to Lancaster as standard, brings the equipment it needs, and the quote you receive includes travel. Use the instant quote button on this page to check prices and availability for your date.

The essentials:

  • Typical cost: from around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band, depending on line-up, date and set times
  • Traditional trad, céilí, Irish folk, ballads and Celtic rock
  • Sets for a drinks reception, a céilí evening or a full party night
  • Travel is included in every quote
  • Every booking carries a 14-day change-of-mind refund

A céilí band runs the night as a series of group dances, with a caller walking guests through the steps. An Irish party band plays a set to dance to freely, mixing ballads and folk favourites with well-known covers. Some acts can do a céilí section and then a party set.

A duo or trio typically starts from around £600, while a full Irish party or céilí band for the evening can reach £2,500 or more. The date and your set times make a difference too. The price in your quote includes travel, so it won't change once you've booked.

Rather than a generic demo, each act's page shows the actual line-up you'd be booking, with videos, audio, a song list and client reviews. Between them you'll get a clear sense of the sound and the show well before the day.

The instant quote button gives you a price and availability for your date straight away. From there, we manage the contract and deposit and keep you updated until the event. Every booking is covered by a 14-day change-of-mind refund, and there's an emergency contact line on the day in case anything needs sorting.

FAQs

The category covers traditional trad groups, céilí bands with a caller, Irish folk and ballad singers, and Celtic rock and Irish party bands that also play modern covers. Each act's page shows its style, line-up and song list.

Yes. Céilí bands come with a caller who explains each dance and walks guests through the steps, so nobody needs to know them in advance. It's one of the best ways to get a whole room dancing together.

Most do. Full bands bring their own PA and lighting; acoustic duos and trios need very little. Larger line-ups need floor space and power nearby, so it's worth checking both with your venue, along with any sound limiter.

From around £600 for a solo singer or duo to £2,500 or more for a full band. The number of musicians, the date and the length of the booking make the biggest difference, and travel is always included in the quote.

Most acts are happy to learn a special request with enough notice, whether that's a traditional air for the ceremony, a ballad for the first dance or a family favourite. Mention it when you enquire.

As early as you can. St Patrick's weekend is the busiest time of year for Irish acts, and the best bands are often booked months ahead. For other dates, a few months' notice is usually plenty.

“The Flying Finns music was irresistibly danceable. Their energetic and extremely skilled performance created a highly festive air. Their interpretations of folk music were as original as it was entertaining. I would not hesitate in recommending this hugely professional band”

“Dear Padraig Words cannot express how wonderful you were, at the celebration we had for my mum's passing, at Greenwoods recently. So many relatives asked whether you actually knew mum, as you had made it so personal, they were, as you could probably tell, really enjoying themselves! I could not have wished for a more fitting tribute to my mum, just sad that you couldn't meet her as she would have been your biggest fan that night! With sincere thanks.”

“The band were amazing, really talented and great at getting people up to dance and keeping them going throughout the night. They were able to accommodate our request for a Hora, learned our first dance song and were just the best!”

“Excellent communication from Del and the team. Declan was brilliant. Very professional musician with a lovely voice. Played a great variation of songs to suit all age groups of the party. Excellent value for money. Stairway to Heaven was incredible! Will book again in the future and highly recommend Declan and the company to everyone.”

Thank you so much for answering all of our questions in the lead up, particularly in relation to first dance/last dance stuff! And thank you for being so flexible when our speech/end of dinner timings went awry! You were so great eith the first dance and the archway at the end too so thank you!
